Hauppauge card won't find the same channels after OS reinstall

Lately I decided to reinstall Windows XP. As always, I backed up the old one into an image file in case any trouble. And trouble came.

My card is Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200, driver is 7.9.1.28336 (latest from the website).

Tuner softwares (I tried NPVR and WinTV 7) won't find all the programs the previous system had.

Some of the channels found are located on different channels. You can observe that in the first case cable channel 11 has the same freq (119250000) as channel 38 in the second. It's like the tuner scans another channel set - odd!

I tried even a fresh install of Windows 7, same result: not working properly. When I restore the old system from the backup image, everything works fine again.

So now I'm clueless. Any ideas would be welcomed.

Microsoft has particularly bad tuning tables in some countries, and I'm pretty sure this is just another case of it.

When it comes to analog scanning, NextPVR will just be asking Directshow "for Hungary with cable tuning, what are the Min and Max channel numbers?". Windows might return "2-360", then NextPVR will progressively tell the tuner to: tune to 2 and check for a signal, tune to 3 and check for a signal, tune to 4 and check for a signal....tune 360 and check for a signal. NextPVR has no say in what frequencies those channels are on, and Microsoft has particularly bad tables for a lot of European countries (and New Zealand).

There isnt really much you can do about it. Hopefully your channels are on those channels that are scanned, even if you have to disable some duplicates. Otherwise you can manually enter the analog channels.

That's right, the range needed to be updated. It seems some other countries are also affected, the solution is posted here.

I'm fighting one computer the refuses to find rf 22. What are the steps for manually entering a channel??

Just hit the 'Add' button, supply whatever channel name, then enter the channel number 22. This of course depends on the Windows tuning tables to be correct though.
