Unable to install

Hello,

When I try to install the latest version of GB-PVR the installations stops after the license confirmation with the following message : "Installation ended prematurely because of an error".

I'm installing on XP SP1 and yes I have installed Microsoft .net runtime v1.1 (Dutch version though).

The application log reads : Product: GB-PVR -- Installation operation failed. Event-id 11708.

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe USB card and installed the Vision software (which works now and then ).

Can anyone please help me with this ?

I suspect you've got a corrupt file. Try downlading it again.

I downloaded again but with same result.

Are there any dependencies to other installed components ? Maybe language ?

No, no dependencies for the install. Dutch should also be fine.

Today I installed SP1 for Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1, but with the same result.

As an alternative I installed an older version of GB-PVR (GbpvrSetup018l.exe) which I could install properly. Sadly enough this version does not support my Pinnacle Deluxe card, so I still have no solution.

Sorry, it doesn't really mean much to me. The installer has been pretty good at doing it job up until now, so I've never looked the logs it produces.

Do you have another machine you can install it on, and just copy across the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory? The install machine doesn't need to have a capture device. The only other thing you'll need is a registry setting:

I finally managed to solve the problem. It seems that under XP Home an MSI has to be installed from the C:\ drive, and not from another one; has probably something to do with access rights. Thanks for your attention anyway.
