Nasty digital noise when leaving playback

I have been troubled by a nasty persistent digital noise on my TV when I stop viewing a recording with the Back button.

The TV is connected by HDMI.

However, I discovered that if I Pause or Stop playback before pressing Back, there is no noise.

Being too lazy to press two buttons to exit playback, would it be possible to have the Back button do whatever it is that Pause/Stop does to the audio?

As far as I can tell, pressing the back button does call the Stop(), ie the same code that is run when you press the stop button.

I supposed as much. Still, the noise is there.

I've uninstalled my plugins, and tested with both remote and keyboard. If I press Escape during playback, 4 times out of 5 there's a hideous noise on the telly.

If I pause first, none.

You could post the logs for both and I'll compare to see if there is any obvious difference.

Stop and Back, since these should be pretty much the same.

Have you tried a different audio decoder?

Sub, this is a bit embarrassing. When preparing to create the logs I realized that I've never actually used Stop, I didn't see the point of programming a key on my remote with it! After all, Exit does the same job.

But I've tried it now, and what do you know, Stop has the same problem as Back...

@whurlston: No, but then again everything works fine if I hit Pause first. All I ask is that Stop/Exit does first whatever it is Pause does :-)
