Remote control help

OK, so I am a cheap sod, I know this, but is it possible to do what I want?

I have a broken DigitalNow twin USB DVB-T tuner dongle, which will no longer get much in the way of a TV signal - it only finds 3 of the 20 or so channels. However, it comes with a remote control.
There is a small app that runs, presumably to translate the IR commands to something useful.

This all works well in WMC. NPVR just ignores it.

What do I need to do to get NPVR to handle things?
I have tried the wiki, but its not clear with which of the many remotes this is compatible.

Try each one and see if any will respond to your remote

Do I use these as well as, or instead of, the service application?

You may want to disable WMC as it may conflict.

Choose any one of the three that stustuntz suggested without the "service app" that works best
