Hello....

I am thrilled with new release and hardware/os updates I have done... System runs smooth and can finally enjoy npvr as others are. I do have a few issues with plugins that are being addressed in other threads.

Am unable to use the ff, pause/play(resume) as the latency is tremendously long. Last test was over 10 minutes. I am attaching logs..

Was this on a client?
I have the same kind of issue watching recordings on my client.
If I skip 3 or 4 minutes ahead, the picutre changes then stays there. If I short skip forward or back, then picture & sound resumes.

On the PC today I was watching LiveTV (like the logs show) and the picture froze, I tried to re-sync by rewinding and I'd hear the sound change but the same frame showed stuck. I kept the log and it shows the skip attempts that weren't succeeding if they are needing. Grampz in your log nothing looked like a skip. Skipping with the mouse on the timeline doesn't work for LiveTV, if you were trying that.

Interesting ... this won't help you, but i want to write it. ;D

This is the first npvr release, since ever, that i can watch my recordings (analog ones, sd material) without any problem from the client. Playback, skip (it happens now immediately, even 5 or 10 minutes jumps instead waiting 10-20 seconds per jumps) and now you have problems with the stuff.

PERHAPS, only an idea, it's again decoder related.

I am using LAF Splitter 0.44 with it's default configuration. Further i am using now ffdshow_rev4257_20120115_clsid and monogram aac decoder.
I could offer the configuration of my system, so that you could compare the settings.

With recorded hd material i have problems too, but that's another story (it starts already trying watching live tv -> blackscreen or heavy stuttering).

Is your HD recordings H.264? What decoder are you using for them? I use Cyberlink PDVD10 both for MPEG2 and H.264 and have rarely problems with skipping, but occasional I have to do an extra short skip (forward or backwards). I noticed that since I changed to LAV audio decoder for all audio (except AAC and E-AAC which I don't have), the audio is there immediately after a skip whereas when I was using DivX or Monogram for HE-AAC I sometimes didn't get sound after a skip until I did a short skip backwards.

I don't have problems with skipping. Those are fixed finally for the first time with npvr 2.3.6 and my used splitter/filter setup.
The problems with my x264 hd content (only 3 FREE hd tv stations, germany is like africa with modern television standards) have another root, which i mentioned on another topic. Sub viewed 2 sample files already.

In this topic i recommended Grampz and JonnyCam, that changing decoders could fix their skipping problems.

Thanks guys.. I am running a stand alone setup, so no clients. Only filter I have installed is AC3, which gave me SPDIF Digital Surround audio. Took some digging and time but nice!

I have read in another forum about trying other decoders..

Should I install all of these, or one at a time? Configuration help would be great as I am still learning about decoder/filter setup, but hopefully I can figure it out.

Hello Grampz!
I would install "all" of them (in fact they are only 2 decoders and 1 splitter). If you are a bit patience, i could present you a small guide.
I am just writing one and it could take 1 or 2 days before i publish it.

I get the following error trying to install mmaac

Installed ffdshow

Quote:I am using LAF Splitter 0.44
Assume you meant LAV Splitter, and I ran the registration batch files. I do not see this as a selectable option within decoder configuration settings.

My current config page

Had to use AC3 audio to get dolby digital. I am using US OTA ATSC. Am unsure which decoders are used for what, but things are working better now. Pause/resume and FF are not as quick as I would like, but a step in the right direction.

Thanks, Greg

The decoders listed on the Settings->Decoders tab only relate to .ts and .mpg playback. For any other file type it just lets Directshow choose whatever decoders it wants.

.ts playback always uses the Microsoft demultiplexer. It wouldnt use the LAV Splitter for .ts playback.
