Today I also observed that after watching live-tv for a while skipping is not possible. Sub, is this something you'r looking into?

I hope that this thread hasn't died as I still see that decoders are a big issue. I have posted my latest findings in another thread, which is..

gEd Wrote:YesNo, you can just download the trial version of PowerDVD 12, resister all the .ax files in Cyberlink/PowedDVD12\Common\VideoFilter (or better move the folder to a safe place first). You don't have to mess with SAF or other "Dick, Joe and Harry" software. "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy"

I read the question as "is the unlocked SAF the only version of SAF that has the PDVD codec" (yes). I was not suggesting that SAF is the only place where you can get PDVD codec and I am sorry if that is how it was read.
You are absolutely right reddwarf, you don;t have to "mess" with SAF. You can instead, download a trial version of PDVD, install it, find the filters and copy them somewhere else and then register them all yourself, thereby avoiding all that "messing about"..... oh and then uninstall the trail version afterwards. Or start the installation, find the filters in the installation temp folder and then copy them somewhere else and then abort the install. I'm sure this is all documented somewhere isn't it or should we all assume people know how to do all this? SAF was created specifically for mediaportal and npvr users who don't want to bother (or are not comfortable with) downloading and installing, registering and configuring all their own audio and video codecs. In that respect, I think SAF is a perfectly acceptable solution for that target audience and there are plenty of users on this forum using SAF without problem. Clearly SAF must have really messed up your system for you to hate it (and dis-respect it) so much Reddwarf.

I have tinkered with different decoders and the MSTweak tool, but cannot get things to work as smoothly as I know it should. The only audio decoder I can use is AC3Filter. All others introduce sync issues. Only video decoder I can use is the MS one, as ffdshow is inconsistent. Thanks guys and will attempt the Cyberlink decoders a bit later. Should I remove the SAF6 package, and reset the MSTweak tool before I install the PowerDVD decoders? Greg
