I have a KWorld ub435-Q v2 USB tuner. It shows up as 'BDA 2875 TVTuner'. When I view devices, it shows up as ATSC. I would like to use it as QAM (United States). I also have 'ASUS EHC3150 BDA ATSC Tuner' which displays as ATSC. Neither work with QAM in NPVR. I only need the 2875 to work as the ASUS already works in another app I like using, but others may want it working if you are so inclined. Both will tune QAM in the right app, but I prefer to record without a UI to minimize impact on performance. Please help, Sir. Thank you.

Apologies if I have missed the point ... NPVR recording is done by a service and not by the NPVR.exe. My understanding is that software records digital channels by "copying" the content of the mpg broadcast stream to an mpg file on disk. There is little, if any, "processing" of the mpg data during the copy from tuner to disk. I would expect most software to use the same amount of CPU for recording (but I have expected all sorts of stuff and turned out wrong).

Good Luck

That is absolutely correct, it is NOT the UI that does the recording, the UI (ie NextPVR.exe) does not have to be running for npvr to record shows, and unless you have an analog tuner with SOFT_ENCODE properties it uses only a few percent cpu to do the job.

Try this patch. It should make the QAM inputs appear.

Unfortunately, you both missed the point. I am wanting to use NPVR specifically because it doesn't need the UI to do the recording. Right now, I am using TiVme from the KWorld site, and it has a UI open and a live tv window open as well. This interface is having an impact on various things I am doing. The other app for that stick is TotalMedia which again has to open and display live tv to record. That's why I stated my main reason for wanting to use NPVR. Sorry I wasn't clear on that. I keep forgetting that every word I post in a forum gets dissected by everyone.

Thank you for your response. I will try it as soon as I am finished recording with this stick and reply again once I have tried it.

I have re-read your original post and you were as clear as day. I just didn't read it properly. Good luck (and welcome).

QAM appears for BOTH cards now and scanned and found all channels. Thank you very much. When I was using TiVme, even typing was delayed while it recorded. With nPVR, I am recording two channels on the same tuner (they share frequency, didn't know I could even do that) and am seeing no issues with performance. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! I just may enable the other card in this app and dump MP. I will say this, though: the UI seems a little sluggish, but it's no big deal for me. Now I've got to get all the channels sorted, ID'd, XML'd, etc. I'll start a new thread if I run into any problems (unless it is related specifically to the QAM thing, but I assume that's resolved). Thanks again.

No biggie. I expect miscommunication on forums when I post. I think I have bad phrasing issues or something. Thanks for reading and replying though. That goes for Reddwarf, too.

A different Video Renderer might help. Have you tried VMR9 FSE?
