Can I schedule programs in advance? Like 2-3 days in advance? How do I do that? Let's say I'm leaving town for the weekend and I want to record a game or The Oscars or something. How do I schedule that? The TV guide only seems to cover 3 hours. Is there a way to browse several days in advance? If there's a wiki, just point me to it. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question.

You need to setup an EPG source. The default EPG just pulls data from the broadcast stream when it's available... on digital cable, I'm surprised you get 3 hours... many cable operators don't transmit anything.

As you smartly read my Tech Support sticky to get the QAM patch for your tuners, keep on reading to the EPG section. Also read the relevant section in the Wiki: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ration.EPG

The simplest option will be Schedules Direct, support for which is built-in to NPVR (http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ulesDirect). You can get a 7-day free trial, which will actually get you about 3 weeks of EPG data.

I'm using XMLTV (that's buried in a previous reply) and should be getting as much as two weeks with that, but all I see in the TV Guide is 3 hours worth. I see no way to navigate beyond that 3 hour window. Let's say I'm looking at TV Guide and it begins with 12:00. It goes to 2:30 and stops. I can not figure out how to get to see what's on at 3:00 or beyond. Until 12:30. Then I can see 3:00. Make sense? I can see the programs listed, but cannot scroll or navigate left and right in the timeline. There are no sliders or buttons.

Am I even allowed to reply to my own ridiculous drivel? KEYBOARD NAVIGATION! :o I get it now. There really should be a way to scroll though.

NPVR works best with a remote or keyboard short-cuts can be used to scroll left or right use the left or right arrows.
I believe all the short-cuts are in the wiki somewhere.

yep you got it
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

The majority of users use this application full screen all the time as a home theatre system - the less sliders and buttons the better Smile

Just a quick tip for those "record something 3 days from now" - holding down the Ctrl key with the arrows move by days.

Some of the navigation keys aren't on the wiki yet. FF/RW (Ctrl-F /Ctrl-R) scrolls a window right/left. F1 in the guide takes you back to the current time.

I also have a KWorld ub435-Q v2 USB tuner which I tired to get working when I fist started with NPVR, but never could get it working so I switched to a HDHR. This thread got me thinking aobut the ub435-Q so I pulled it out and tired it again with the patch. It now shows up in the device list as a "BDA 2875 TVTuner" for both QAM ans ATSC, but I can't get anything when I do a scan with QAM or ATSC. I've disabled the virus software, the firewall and removed the HDHR to remove all the outside variables and still no joy.

Does anyone have any ideas to get this thing working? A extra tuner would be nice.

Thanks

The device never finds a signal to lock during your scans. Did you try scanning with the HRC frequency set also? Update your drivers as well. I'm not sure what else to suggest.

The drivers are up to date and I tried a scan with HRC, no luck. Kinda baffled as it works fine with the manufacturers TVime interface.
