Hello, I am a long-time BeyondTV user now looking to use an HDHR-Prime for my non-broadcast channels. My plan is to use NPVR to do my recordings with the Prime, then convert them to watch in BTV. I have BTV and several BTV Link licenses in use, and with this method there is no transition for the family to deal with. I may give up BTV in the future but not for now.

I have written a VBS script to take the metadata and convert it to the format that BTV wants. However, I have found that the XML file generated automatically with StoreSeparateMetadataXml=true in config.xml is not quite the same as the metadata you can get by extracting it from npvr.db3 using sqlite3. In particular, the channel data is different and the original air date and genre are not in the automatically generated file.

Just wondering if the missing items could be added to the recording metadata in the next release of NPVR? This would make the metadata more consistent either way you get it, and would also make getting all the data a bit easier.

Either way, NPVR is great and I appreciate all the hard work!

Ok - I've added the additional attributes to metadata.xml for the next release.

Oh, one other question. Currently in the metadata.xml file the channel info that is stored is the fourth element or attribute for the channel, as stored in xmltv.xml by mc2xml. For example:

<channel id="I628.177450823.microsoft.com">
<display-name>628 HSTRYHD</display-name>
<display-name>628</display-name>
<display-name>HSTRYHD</display-name>
<display-name>History HD</display-name>
<display-name>Satellite</display-name>
</channel>

What shows up in the metadata.xml for the channel is "History HD". And in npvr.db3 there's a ChannelOID of 7461 that I can't figure out where it comes from.

Is there a good way to change what is stored in the metadata for the channel? I'd prefer just the number, 628 in this case. I can do a big lookup table but thought I'd ask you first.

The metadata.xml will show whatever the name of your channel is. See Settings->Channels to see names. What name you end up with depends on how it was created. For example, with analog tuners it's name is imported from the xmltv file or schedules direct. With digital it's usually the name the broadcaster set in the PSIP data. With a HDHR Prime or DCR-2650, it'll be whatever channel names the device reports (which in turn is the whatever the Broadcaster set it to). ie, with Digital or Cable Card, the channel names in your xmltv file isn't used at all.

You can of course edit the channels to set whatever name you want.

I'm really looking forward to this next version of NPVR. Just a bunch of fixes, etc, but each version seems to add so much. Thanks Sub.
