I completely disabled the firewall..nothing.

How can I run ndigitalhost.exe? When I double-click on it in explorer I get a windows message it doesn't work anymore and windows is looking for a solution. Do I have to start or stop the recording service, do I have to start it manually,......?

You could stop the recording service, and manually run it with "nrecord.exe RUN". It may let you see acamd tray icons that you wouldn't see when the recording service runs the normal way, and these may give some clues what it doesn't like.

nrecord.exe will auto start ndigital.exe when it needs it.

It looks as if Acamd gets some data but then the stream stops. Have you checked that you still have ffdesca.dll in npvr's program directory?

On second thought, this line from NDigitalHost.log
Code:
2012-08-06 17:06:56.333    [DEBUG][4]    locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0   (took 0ms to check)
indicates that your capturecard has a weak or absent signal. You could try renaming your npvr.db3, start with an empty database and try scanning for those channels to see if they are still there.

Forget about that, I now see that your capture device says the same on unencrypted channels.

What about ffdesce.dll?

In post #8 you can see the acamdlog from that try.

Still there, but I copied the backup in again to be sure. Indeed, the stream just stops.

This is rather mysterious. I wonder if it does the same if you install the latest version of npvr (it is a much better version), you can back up both program- and data-directory first so you have the option of going back.

Normally I make a ghost image, but backing up is much faster. Just renaming/copying the directories???

Copying would be the easiest, and if your new installation works well you can just delete the copies. Indeed it should have worked with your current installation, but I'm thinking some filters may have been lost or un-registered. Another advantage with the newest version is that if you should need a patch Sub can't provide one if you are running the older version.

The same.....
I am now going to try putting back an image. Not sure whether it is "old enough" though.
