I am having a problem where when I play certain MP3s in gbpvr there is a popping noise that sounds like poporn popping that goes with the beat of the music. But it does not occur with all MP3s. It does not happen when I am playing the same MP3s in Winamp or other programs, only in gbpvr.
My setup for consists of My Music playing to a Soundblaster Live card with a headphone -> RCA jack connection to my Yamaha receiver which then is hooked to my Boston speakers. I just installed all of the latest drivers for the soundcard and that did nothing. I figure that it must be a bad decoder or something, but have no clue what to do about it.
Any suggestions on how to correct it?

GB-PVR just uses the default MP3 filter installed on your machine. The default one on your machine may not be the best. That said, the default Windows one is usually pretty good, but another application have installed one that is worse.

You could try downloading either of the following
Quote:-Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Decoder 1.9.0.311 (08062000)
Decodes MPEG Layer-3 audio from standalone and integrated MP3 files
(replaces the Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Decoder 1.5.0.50, which is shipped with Windows)

-DCoder MP3 File Source Filter 1.30 (29122004)
Filter for playback of standalone MP3 files only
(better quality then the Fraunhofer MP3 Decoder, but integrated MP3 decoding is still Fraunhofers job)
I dont know where you can download them, but google should be able to turn them up pretty quick. (version numbers may vary from those above, but thats fine)

Thanks a lot Sub. Fixed the problem immediately. Here is a link and some information of the filterpack that I installed to fix the problem.

*DScaler 5 Audio Decoder 0.6.0 (26022005)
This audio decoder will be used as "Audio Pre-processor" as a temporary fix to render VOB [MPEG2,DTS] files
The mediagraph will look like this:
(Source) --> Gabest MPEG Splitter --> Gabest MPEG Decoder --> (Video Renderer)
\-> DScaler Audio Decoder --> AC3Filter --> (Audio Renderer)

[Description]
A decoder/filter provides proper playback of certain media formats.
By default MP3 files are supported by Windows, but OGG files for instance Windows can't recognize.
By installing a Vorbis Decoder Windows does have the ability to recognize these files.
The DirectShow FilterPack is a collection of decoders/filters capable of handling many media formats.
This filterpack is specially designed to work with Zoom Player, a multimedia program with great potential, but also works with other DirectShow based media players. This filterpack also works great with not included media formats like: Windows Media Audio/Video (http://ksphere.free.fr/site/codecspackage.php), MPEG4 (ffdshow), Real Media (Real Alternative), QuickTime (QuickTime Alternative and AC3 Audio (AC3Filter).
Note:
These are not codecs! This filterpack only contains decoders/filters (no encoding), and will only work with DirectShow based media players (this doesn't include Winamp for instance).
These decoders/filters are gathered to render media with Zoom Player in "standard media playback" mode. This for instance explains the DScaler Audio Decoder, since the AC3Filter itself is allready capable of decoding DTS audio, but somehow fails in "standard media playback" mode.

[Installation]
-Extract to "C:\" (directory structure already present)
-Browse to "C:\Program Files\Media\DirectShow FilterPack"
-Run install_all.bat

[Removal]
-Browse to "C:\Program Files\Media\DirectShow FilterPack"
-Run uninstall_all.bat
-Remove the "DirectShow FilterPack" directory

P.S: In every subdirectory you'll find an install.bat/uninstall.bat to install/uninstall every decoder/filter separately.

[Known Issues]
-The RadLight Ogg Splitter and the Radlight Vorbis Decoder are not part of Zoom Player's internal filter formats database. Both filters do funtion properly though.
-The DCoder MOD (Tracker) File Source Filter may sometimes malfunction when handling certain tracker-file types, of which some are badly supported. Considering this issue, version 0.50 is way better then the newer version 0.60.
