No Sound in Live TV - HD-PVR 2

The main difference between the HD PVR 2 and the standard HD PVR models is the HDMI input.

I really think the missing sound has to do with how NPVR handles the HDMI audio.

Does anyone have a working HD PVR 2 setup? If so can you share your setup configuration and applicable log details?

No sound in Live TV is a huge deficiency that limits the utility of NextPVR.

I don't, because HDMI and my HDPVR 2 are useless thanks to HDCP, but can you place a 20MB sample live tv file somewhere? Your log seems to show that the file is valid

Try using this patch. You may need to delete and recreate you channels though.

Thanks for the patched NShared.dll.

Unfortunately, it results in no sound AND no video!

Not surprising, as I also noticed in the devices section that it lists the the source as 'Component, HDMI' instead of the correct (and desired) 'HDMI, HDMI' as shown by the previous version.

I'm attaching my FilterCheck.log in addition to the others, as that may help you sort out the inputs and outputs of the HD PVR 2.

I'll revert back to the previous NShared.dll while you have another go.

I'm pretty sure you must have had them set wrong when you created the channels. I had no problem creating HDMI channels.

On an HD PVR 2 thers are three ways to get audio: RCA, SPDIF and HDMI. However, this listing shows only two. That's because when using HDMI, audio is carried along with the video: There is no separate Audio input.

When examining my previous logs (generated using the 'correct' NShared.dll), it showed Audio attempting to connect using 'AESDigital In' which would be incorrect for HDMI (AESDigital In is SPDIF). I'm surmising, there is an issue with connecting to the correct output for audio when using HDMI and it has gone largely undiscovered because few people use HDMI (due to HDCP copy protection) and the newness of the HD PVR 2.

I'm audio just fine from HDMI with the HDPVR2 on that last patch.
