You can get around that problem you need get a few thing for it to work like this
DVI-HDMI Converter: http://tinyurl.com/ou6k8k
DVI-HDMI Cable: http://tinyurl.com/y4ujp9
Optical Cable: http://tinyurl.com/2cynkv
HDMI Cable: http://tinyurl.com/3up9czp
But it should be noted there is no DD 5.1 AC3 rigth now with HD-PVR 2 just say something on hauppauge facebook page let them know

Or use the "Other" HDMI Device for HDCP.

Three months after getting my HDPVR 2 I must say I am thoroughly disgusted with Hauppauge with the recent announcement of update http://www.examiner.com/article/hauppaug...ew-hd-pvrs so oon after the original release. The update must have been in planning phase, but tactically avoided to keep sales up.

What do I get from their support for this

"I apologize but there is no upgrade path ;-(

That sure sounds "new" to me, since I can't get 5:1 audio.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, but a fairly common occurrence with technology in the modern world. I got an iPad 3 earlier this year, then six months later the iPad 4 came out. Grrr. I expected I'd get a year before they bought out a new one.

As much as I'd prefer to have a bigger gap between releases, I can't blame Apple or Hauppauge or whoever for having to keep up with aggressive release cycles to stay ahead of the competition. I'm also wouldn't expect them to give me a free upgrade. I'd like it, but realise that's not a good way to stay in business.

This is much worse, I bought a brand new product the last week in Sept, and just 3 months after this initial release seeing them marketing a new product is outrageous. This update would have been on the drawing board and the only reason not to have let customers know would be for a cash grab against loyal customers willing to take a risk.

I didn't expect anything for free.

I can understand you being pissed. Trust me - I was pretty pissed about my nearly US$1000 32GB Cellular/Wifi iPad 3 was replaced after only 6 months.

Wrong Hauppauge find out the hard way that this wasn't case that why end come out with this update model I told then when first saw a picture of the protype that was a bad idea.
It because of us user with Cable, Satellite, PS3, Home Theater System who want 5.1 Audio and IR Blaster and people still used WinTV 7, so you see HDMI can support 5.1 right now but it not in HD-PVR 2: GE drivers how ever that will change soon.
I still wish it had come with Coaxial Audio that way I don't have used Coaxial-Optical Digital Audio Converter
You could always sell that one and get the newer one and your problem solove

The Hauppauge site provides a link from the HD-PVR product page to NextPVR but not the HD-PVR 2 product page, so I am unsure it will work.

Has anyone been successful using NextPVR with Hauppauge HD PVR 2 model 1512 using Component input and Optical input to capture from Satellite receiver?

http://hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr2.html

Is the setup the same as Hauppauge PVR?
Are there any restrictions that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Stew
