Happauge HD PVR "crash"

alright so after much playing around, i have now noticed that it seems like it may be 3 specific channels causing the crash and not all SD as i previous thought.

I have 3 children show channels that seem to cause this thing to stop working.... very very very weird..... time to gather some logs ....

alright here are my logs, hopefully they say something useful but I cant see where it is failing in the logs...

the channel names that crash the hd pvr are DJRCAN and DXDCAN hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue.

for this example I just kept changing the channel until I changed on DJRCAN DXDCAN can't remember which one was first but in any event it fails as soon as I get on the Channel...

TFC 66 is also an SD channel but that and many others work fine. Usually the HD channels are prefixed somewhere with HD.

Maybe you simply haven't configured those channels correctly? Assuming you have the post R2 patches go into the device setting and right click them to update to current settings.

you my friend are a very smart, the 3 channels mentioned were all using SPDIF, and recently I have disconnected the cable.... who ever thought.

so now I put the SPDIF cable back into the pvr and the STB, if i set the channel in device settings to use SPDIF it still fails, using RCA works fine, so for some reason it does not find the SPDIF.... any ideas? will any logs help, looking at logs i didn't see much.

Have you upgraded to the new 2.6.2 release? There was a couple of things fixed relating to HDPVR/Colossus audio.

If that doesn't help, reproduce the problem and post the nrecord.log and I'll take a look.

upgraded to 2.6.2 also did a restart of pc, reproduced the problem. attached is the log.

on my STB I have setup the box to use dolby digital. I have the SPDIF connected to the STB and the PVR.

maybe i am doing something wrong, but not sure what else I should do.

Sorry, I don't know - the logs look fine. It looks like it's successfully asking the HDPVR to use the SPDIF input.

Is the HDPVR giving your audio via SPDIF in any other app?

what other app can you recommend i test it in?

Probably Arcsoft TME or whatever came with the device.
