Yep, I think the OP should be ok with reinstalling the system plugin.

Lesson for the day: Don't mess around upgrading a stable system just before you go on a business trip.....!

Would reinstalling the system plug in fix it? If so, were can I get a new copy? I looked but didn't see anything in the "add ons" forum.

I found a copy of the System plug-in, reinstalled it and it seems to have fixed the exception error.

Does the system plugin get reinstalled with each new install or does the old one stay in the directory? I'm just wondering is this exception problem and install problems can be traced back to a bad copy of the system plugin from way back when???

Yea, it was STUPID... I know better, but... well... ya know Smile

Thank you to everyone who saved my bacon.

Thankfully I'll still need that round trip ticket!

No, the system plugin is a standalone plugin and not part of npvr itself. there is something about the installation of the newer version of npvr that breaks the system plugin, requiring it to be reinstalled.

In what way? This looks more like a case of the op still running an old version of the plugin and then running into problems due to a bad upgrade. The bug that fired when ok-ing the config dialog was fixed some time ago I think (Feb 2012 according to the changelog).

It did not do it here.

My apologies. I didn't know it was a known plugin bug. It's seems very odd that both the OP and I both hit the error when upgrading (in my case, to one of the pre-releases). I guess this means that neither of us have updated our npvr settings for a very long time.!

Did the plugin lose its settings when you put the latest one on? If it did you had the old bugged version...if it didn't then it's something else going wonky.
