Fx: Stupid head on!

So, I'm running 2.6.2 but how do I get the XBMC addon? Can't see it in plugins.... or any reference to it in settings.

Apologies for being obtuse and thank for any pointers

It's built into XBMC 12 (Frodo). You just need to enable it in XBMC.

It is enabled via Setup->Live TV and it is reasonably well explained on the XBMC wiki http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PVR/XBMC The NextPVR wiki hasn't been kept current the xbmc stuff should almost be deleted.

Give me a break. Can you imagine configuring NextPVR without reading. Too many people try.

Anyway I expect most XBMC users appear to want LiveTV primarily so Setup->Live TV isn't that bad.

Hi stustunz,

Quote:its bloody confusing its in the tv section or some weird arse crap

XBMC is most confusing thing to configure
I would have totally agreed with you when sub first made the NextPVR add-on available for the new PVR enabled xbmc. I do still find some things on xbmc a little un-intuitive but having tinkered with xbmc for a while now I would really say it is "Horses for Courses". Being firstly a GB-PVR user and then a NextPVR user (and I remember getting frustrated at first moving from the former to the latter!) I can't think of any software now more intuitive to me than NextPVR, but I suspect that is because I tinker with NextPVR nearly every day Big Grin

I would suspect that most users taking advantage of the new PVR functionality of xbmc are coming FROM xbmc, so perhaps would not find the xbmc GUI as difficult to navigate as I first did.

In fact I do remember Martin replying to a ranty post of mine when the xbmc add-on first came out, and I wasn't used to the xbmc interface, when he suggested that I really should have a good sniff around xbmc. I have had a very good sniff around now! Though I am still a little unsure with certain elements of it and therefore do still slightly agree Wink

Martin as I have mentioned you in this post!

Yes something needs to be done here. Thanks for a reminder. Great work done at the time, thanks wiki elves. But loads of info on this page outdated now. Needs work!

cheers

While mvallevand is correct, I'd point out in response to "one place" that it is under add-ons as well

Settings -> Add-Ons -> Disabled Add-Ons -> PVR Add-Ons -> NextPVR

At least, that is true if you did a default installation. The "custom" installation gives you the option to install without the PVR addons, in which case you'd have to go through the "Get Add-Ons" menu

Ah! got it now. I'd been into add ons and enabled it and I'd configured it with the IP etc. but had missed enabling it in TV settings. Thanks all

Have done a bit more work on this page now:

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Client.XBMC

Once again I thank all the wiki elves and posters of threads. Should prob have put this in doc thread but hey!

Should be a little closer to current state of affairs with xbmc?

cheers
