PCH A-110's not loading NPVR after upgrade from 2.5.9 to 2.6.2

My system was running well on 2.5.9 up through this afternoon except it was skipping some configured recurring recordings (separate issue). I had some time so I upgraded to 2.6.2. That seemed to go fine on my HTPC, but then I tested my PCH's. I have three A-110s and one A-100, none would load NPVR, the screen would flicker, go black, then return to NMT GUI. I installed all the patches listed in the 2.6.2 patches thread and rebooted my HTPC, then the A-100 would load NPVR and play videos. But my A-110s still failed to load. Having been through NMT/MVP troubleshooting before, I set the servers to 1 and connected with just the A-100. Logs are attached. I had powered off all the A-110s, and now they won't power back on! Well, two of them anyway, the third is in our BR and my wife is sleeping. I will try that one in the morning and see if I can get logs for the A-110. I was going to try a 4th A-110 I have stashed somewhere, but it's not where I thought it was.

The A-100 logs likely contain some info on the A-110 failures from earlier in the day, if that is of any use. I know with multiple servers/clients it is hard to determine what is going on for certain.

Any initial thoughts?

What do you mean by powered back on? Do you get the NMT software and can't connect to NextPVR. The only thing I can suggest is to test the A110's one at a time with the MVP server set to 1

Not powered on = no output, no LEDs. The 3rd A-110 powered back on w/o issue. One of the others came back on after cycling the power switch a couple of times (switch contacts getting crudded up?), and the other appears to have a bad power brick. I swapped the power bricks between this and another and the problem follows the brick.

Okay, so I set the number of client servers to one and powered up each NMT individually, they all load NPVR and play video. I set the number of servers to five and restart NPVR services, then none of the NMTs will load NPVR. The A-110's start to load NPVR, go to the black screen, then return to the NMT GUI. The A-100 starts loading, goes to the black screen and never comes back.

Logs attached, should have both 1 server and 5 server logs, if it can be deciphered.

I rebooted my HTPC (server set to five), then tried the A-100. I got the NPVR menu screen for about two seconds, then the screen went black and kicked me back to the NMT GUI (vs going black on NPVR load and staying black indefinitely). Logs attached.

Sorry I can't help your logs aren't complete. and you don't even have the connected mvp or current nrecord logs with one server. Best bet duplicate the problem and then shut of the recording service and then compress the whole folder. You should also turn off xbmc because it spams web.log to the point of making it useless.

Oops, my fault, I was only zipping the log files with today's date, and then only zipping the files that had a newer time stamp than the previous zip attachment. I'll reproduce and resubmit.

I did get the A-100 working again by setting the number of servers to 3, not sure what's going on, if the number of servers (> 1) actually matters or not. The A-110's still fail to load NPVR and return to NMT GUI.

When you say turn off xbmc, you mean the clients? I didn't see a way to disable it on the server.

Yes you need to stop the XBMC clients. You probably aren't zipping files that are open.

Well, I busted it good now. Even with the number of servers set to 1 I can't get any of the NMTs to load NPVR. I get the black screen, some flickering, then the NMT GUI again.

Logs attached, hopefully all of them this time.

You might have modified your config.xml setting when you upgraded.

Your A100 0006DC4291D2 does not have a config.xml entry
Your A110 0006DC8025D5 is setup as 1920x1080 which takes special processing in startmeup or it will crash. It is not recommended as it is slow Note with 1280x720 menus it still will run video at 1080i/1080p That is the only MVP I saw connecting.

Thanks Martin! I'll have a look at my config.xml tonight. I updated it last week when we got a new TV (32" Samsung, PCH also does not renegociate HDMI with this TV once it's been shut off, but that's a separate issue). I don't remember setting any clients to 1920 x 1080, but I'll see what's in there currently. My system did work for at least a couple days after this change on 2.5.9 before I upgraded to 2.6.2.

If I can't fix this soon I'm going to have to try to go back to 2.5.9. WAF is dropping off the scale!
