interference on 350pvr output

I 've just built a new pvr box round a shuttle xpc barebones system. I am using a hauppauge pvr350 card and am having problems with its output.
There are noticeable bands of what look like a pale ghosting that move up the image. This is happening on menu screens as well as video playback. The output is being taken from the 350, rather than the onboard video out.
Can anyone suggest how I might go about getting rid of this? It's rendering the system pretty much unusable, which is very frustrating.
I know that the card is good as it was working fine in my old system.
Could it be something as simple as the card not being seated properly in the pci slot?
Any help would be very welcome!

Look at the system to see what you could take to try to narrow the possible causes.

Do you have power cables tangled with any other system cables?

The power supply may be electrically "noisy", so if you got another power supply you can sit next to it briefly, it may be worth plugging it in to your shuttle motherboard to see if the problem goes away.

Some others may have some ideas.

Thanks for the reply! I realise that this is rather outside your support remit - I was really posting in the hope that others might have experienced simillar or offer suggestions.
One of the problems with this shuttle system is that it actually has an external power supply (in the interests of noise reduction) so it will be difficult to change it for another. This is the system in question:

When you say that I should check for power and system cable tangles, did you mean internally or externally (or both)?
I do hope that someone out there can point me in the right direction - I am really missing gbpvr!

I spent a good few hours trying to sort the input on my 350 - turned out I was using a cheap nasty cable... I replace this with a decent cable (not a name brand) and added a booster and I now have great picture quality...

I'd check that outside your box you run the cable from the 350 as far away from mains cables as possible (crossing them at right angles if you have to), also try a different cable...

Make sure the external psu is well away from the 350/350 cables...

If you don't have any joy with them, maybe try a different pci slot? - PCs are very noisy (electronically) so it may be internal interferance, although this unlikely due to the external psu.

I shall certainly try moving all power cables and things away from the machine and make sure that the cables are kept well apart.
I'd try another pci slot, but this system only has one
Also, I didn't make it very clear (it was quite late when I made my original post) that this is on display of the menus via the av out on the 350 card as well as video playback. The video was recorded on my old system which did not have these display problems (but was noisy enough to wake the dead...)
Searching the web does seem to indicate that there are others out there with this system, using pvr350s without problems, so hopefully this problem can be eliminated!

No luck so far :-( I've moved the machine away from the TV, made sure that there are no power cables crossing the cables that are connected to the tv. I've made sure that power cables are as far away from the 350 board inside the case as possible.
In addition, I have discovered that there is a loud buzzing on the audio outputs, which means that the system is totally unusable. I am gutted
Has anyone got any suggestions? Or have I just wasted £500?

2. Tried different video cables that you know worked?
3. If you are certain the PVR350 still functions perfectly on your old system, then you probably have a problem with the shuttle. I see it has an external power supply which is supposed to be supplying 12 V. Any chance you can try another power supply?
4. If that doesn't work, maybe you just have a lemon shuttle which needs to be replaced?

I have to confess that I am at a loss!
To be honest, I haven't tried the onboard tv out - the reason for having a 350 was the high quality output. I'll try that tonight. Presumably, if that output has problems, then the finger points more firmly towards a suspect shuttle?
The cables are all known to be good as they came from the previous, working, system.
I shall investigate getting a replacement shuttle if all else fails...

For the sake of trying to avoid the hassle of exchanging your shuttle, try removing and reseating the 350 in it's slot [grasping at straws here...]

I have tried that, and it didn't help. It seems as though the shuttle may be the culprit after all. It's a shame, because the system is ideal otherwise - quiet and compact.
I shall investigate getting it replaced and take it from there...
Meanwhile, if anyone else has any other ideas, I'm all ears! Thanks to all for the suggestions so far...
