Hello!

Do I assume this card is fully supported with NextPVR in this very old, updated OS? I will be using OTA for TV.

Also, does NextPVR work with very old Air2PC-ATSC-PCI (http://www.bbti.us/products_air2pc_atsc_pci.htm ) HDTV tuner cards I got from 2005?

Thank you in advance. Smile

The HVR-2250 is probably the most widely-used tuner in North America, however there seem to be no recent threads involving its use with XP. At Hauppauge's HVR-2250 support page, the first FAQ is about supported Windows versions and the answer includes XP. Many NextPVR users are still running XP, and sub has stated that XP support will be retained in the soon-to-be-released new version.

If you have previously used the XP machine as HTPC, then you may already have dvbfix installed, but just in case: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/thread...s-xp.6344/
Here's a year-old thread involving problems you might encounter without it: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ng-another

Not much information on the Air2PC-ATSC-PCI, but here's a very old GBPVR thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ght=Air2PC

That thread mentions BDA drivers, so there's a good chance it will work. One good thing about running XP: It shouldn't matter that the driver hasn't been updated since 2008. However I'm a little concerned that the Support page with driver downloads doesn't mention 64-bit. I'd go with the Compact package without DVBViewer.

Thanks. I was able to install and configure NextPVR v2.6.2 onto my very old, updated 32-bit Windows XP Pro. SP3 box. However, it does not see my very old Air2PC-ATSC-PCI. My old DVB Viewer and TSReaderLite installations can see it just fine. So, it can't be the drivers. I might need to get the new tuner. Sad

It could still be drivers. Does it support BDA?

I have NO idea. How do I check for that? http://www.bbti.us/support.htm , http://www.bbti.us/download/datasheets/A...SC-PCI.pdf , and http://www.bbti.us/products_air2pc_atsc_pci.htm doesn't seem to mention BDA when I did a search. I guess not? http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/CaptureCards also doesn't seem to list my model. Sad

please run filtercheck.exe (located with your npvr program files, which I guess you've installed in f:\winstuff\NPVR2), then .zip and post the resulting filtercheck.log file.

also, please do not post in any other thread about this air2pc tuner or the HVR-2250 you're thinking of buying. it's REALLY annoying to find you posting the same thing over and over again in various 7 year old threads. THIS is your thread, use it or suffer the ban hammer.

yep, no BDA drivers.

the other threads I looked at (they're worth looking at, posting links like Zeb did, just not a good idea to post in them after so long and certainly not in all of them) suggest that the default drivers use some sort of IP protocol, and the tuner appears as a network device. this won't work with NPVR, except maybe via martin's network recorder plugin and SageGraphRecorder (which is really not a can of worms I want to open up, I've not used that method myself. I just know it's the path those who know how take to get weird devices working with NPVR). however, there were apparently BDA drivers available at some point, since several users reported getting it working easily with GB-PVR which required BDA drivers just the same as NextPVR does now. Since you're running Windows XP, there may be hope. The links to BDA drivers I saw posted in that other thread are dead, but some googling may reveal the needed download.

of course if you don't mind buying a new tuner, the HVR-2250 is one of the very best. I swear by mine.

p.s. the ban hammer threat was mostly a joke, though I do possess that power; just trying to set you straight so that you don't annoy those who will indeed help you.

Thanks. Yeah, I do need a new HDTV tuner card since this old one doesn't do well. I was planning to keep it as a backup just for kicks and wonder if Next PVR supported it. I am pretty sure I will be getting a HVR-225since I didn't find any other good ones that work in both Linux, Windows, etc. Actually, I didn't even know it supported third parties like NextPVR. Smile

did you happen to notice this? http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/d...tml#tabs-4

pretty cool, right?

generally the rule is that any digital tuner with BDA drivers will work with NPVR, BUT for various reasons Hauppauge cards are always the best supported.
