pretty cool, right?

generally the rule is that any digital tuner with BDA drivers will work with NPVR, BUT for various reasons Hauppauge cards are always the best supported.
Yep, I noticed it a few days ago hence why I came here. I wonder what other software can use this card beside Windows Media Center, WinTV, and NPVR. I know Linux has others like MythTV. Another reason why I am interested in this card.

I'd say any tv software that can't use an HVR-2250 isn't worth the bother. It behaves in a very standard way. It's also great because it does so much - dual tuners, atsc, qam, hardware encoded analog, svideo and composite inputs, IR receiver, dual IR blasters. Won't make a turkey sandwich, but maybe that's just a driver update away Wink

Yeah, I like how the card has dual tuners with one coax TV port connector and I don't need two cards like my air2pc tuner cards (one died I think since it doesn't get any signals on any antenna(s/e) and coax cables!)! Sad Hardware encoded analog only? I thought it did digital too (OTA for me). OTA doesn't analog anymore. Sad

Yes the HVR-2250 does digital OTA. I googled around looking for the BDA driver that once existed for the air2pc, even found download links from 2006/2007 - which unfortunately don't work anymore. Sad
It was reportedly 4.4.1 Beta, and the links led to Technisat rather than Broadband Technologies. It also seems that a dude calling himself Ant was inquiring about that card 8 years ago. Cool

digital is already encoded (MPEG-2 in the US), the card (all digital cards) just pass the MPEG-2 transport stream received from the broadcaster on to the application; NPVR just records the stream verbatim as received.

Ha. Another reason to get a new TV tuner card! So, yeah I had two cards for almost eight years! Too bad one of them (stronger one) died. The current isn't strong. Sad
