No Sound No picture tried SAF and CCCP decoders nothing works on win xp sp3

Hi Folks

I am hoping someone out there can help me before I give up on NextPVR.

I am a newbie and have installed NextPVR on an old Dell inspiron 3ghz Pentium 4 with 2G Ram running win xp sp3 Radeon 9700 Mobility graphics card. I have a generic usb DVB-T stick for viewing Freeview in the UK.

Next installed fine with patches and have all pre-requisites installed. Picks up device fine and scans all channels but no picture or sound just a black screen.

However have tried every configuration of decoders audio and video none work. Have tried both the SAF 6 and the CCCP neither work. I only want to watch live Freeview tv with the usb stick will not be recording. I have Next installed on another laptop running Win7 using the same usb stick everything works fine. Have uninstalled and reinstalled both codec packs seperately to ensure no conflicts but still nothing works agh!!!

Have attached the latest log as stipulated. Would really like to get to the bottom of this as many posts on this forum do not apply to win xp and do like NextPVR but fear I may have to give up on it on this machine. The stick works with the rubbish tuner software that came with it and in ProgDVB so why not in Next?

If you are really using ffdshow, you need to go into its settings and add npvr to the allowed applications. I don't recall the exact name, but you should be able to locate the ffdshow config tab for apps, and add npvr. You probably don't need all the decoders for UK freeview, but I don't know which. A UK user should be able to tell you what video and audio decoders are used there.

But, as Martin noted, you do need a signal before the decoder comes into play.

I'm sure you only need MPEG2 Video and MPEG1 Audio for the DVB-T SD channels. For the ffdshow Video Decoder, you not only need to add NextPVR to the whitelist (if your version has one) but also enable MPEG 2 "libavcodec" (my spelling might be slightly off). Probably some similar settings are needed for the ffdshow Audio Decoder, if none of your MPEG1 audio decoders give you any sound. On your Decoders screenshot, those buttons to the right of the dropdown lists [...] are to access decoder settings. I see you tried various video renderers, which is a good idea. However it wouldn't matter unless you're getting a signal and have ffdshow decoder configured. When you installed SAF, did you request the "unlocked" version?

Like Martin said, the first problem is that your tuner never locked on a signal...

You might want to try downloading and running the ChannelScan tool from here...

I have a couple of tuners that never reports lock to npvr but still delivers both video and audio, so that doesn't mean that the tuner is the problem, just that it is incompatible with hauppauge's lock indicator. I would look at ffdshow's whitelist.

Thanks for all the kind responses everyone.

I did as suggested and have enabled MPEG 2 "libavcodec and added npvr.exe to whitelist. On reloading I can only get sound and pictures if I right click and select a channel off the pinned channel list. The EPG is fully populated but live TV will not load from there only the pinned list? Is this normal for xp?
I was ultimately trying to get it npvr to work with xmbc. Will try the channel scan and see what I get. Strange though that the tuner doesn't seem to have this problem with teh win 7 machine on npvr.

Ran the scan and it picks up all the channels with varying strength from 61% to 81% and similar for the signal quality.
