Unable to find capture device

This is quite random

Sometimes next pvr does not respond at all

Then when it does respond it crashes.

Then when it does not crash and allows live SDtv, if you try to watch anything in HD..............it just will not work

I even went into the registry to tweak the windows 8 settings as the tv stick could not be found (code 19 blah blah blah)

I have added the nshared and unmanaged patches by the way but for some weird reason it's all gone a bit pants

Did you try anything new since this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ng-service You still have the Volume OSD Plugin and you said you are considering getting rid of the pctv stick. I don't know if the 4G stuff applies to you, but if so you might be the luck 1/300.

Interestingly enough, the 290e does not support QAM (not that QAM would be useful for Freeview). The following was in an NRecord log you attached to the last post of your previous thread:

It might be a good idea to go to Device Manager via Control Panel and see what driver version you have installed for the 290e, then post that here to compare notes with other 290e users.

Mvallevand. I have no qualms about getting rid of the tv stick. But first I need to understand if the problem is with next pvr itself.

For the amount of time that I have spent troubleshooting and patching it really has been a waste of time and money. I have removed the volume plug in (that was sloppy of me)

This device was working after patching the nshared.dll file last month. How can it just go haywire?

That is the same driver that Win 8.1 installs - and I just checked the PCTV site and no new drivers since 2010.
Under settings Devices make sure DVB-T PCTV device is present and enabled and QAM PCTV device is present and disabled (It does have a Cable Tuner mode)
There has been engineering work at CP transmitter this week and testing Al Jazeera HD on the new HD mux.
Not much else I can think of.

Two things have come to mind
Install all the patches in the sticky - particularly no 17 (and all before it) that problem was occasionally locking my PCTV stick.

Try the attached Tuning ini, it has the minus offset for the DVB-T2 frequency set in it - I seem to remember when we had minus offset here it would lock on the center frequency and have really poor signal - which could add to any interference problems.

This ini also has the new HD muxes and the new Local mux which will start broadcasting in the next few months.

I installed all of the patches recommended and that totally buggered up the system.



It would not even launch the sd channels. I am uninstalling the next pvr (not chucking toys out of pram just yet) and the rebooting with a new installation.



I can't believe that I have actually made things worse. How I managed to ever get this running must have been a total fluke

That people with identical hardware are not having problems is even more frustrating.

Thanks for all of your help. Maybe the problems that I have experience will help someone else in the future.

I am uninstalling next pvr and the tv stick will just have ornamental value unless I send it back to the manufacturer (in pieces)
