Hi there,

I started to work out on GBPVR two days ago and I'm nearly completely satisfied...
The only problem I got is the playback of music... it all works fine with *.wma files but I can't hear anything coming out my speakers when trying to playback a *.mp3 file... Most of my files are encoded by LAME encoder with constant bitrates 128, 160, 192 kbit/s.
Is there anything I could change in the config or any other codec I could tell GBPVR to use?

Hope u can help me out

Matt

(I'm sorry if this issue was already discussed - I searched the forum quite a while but didn't find a solution)

GB-PVR just uses your system default MP3 codec. Its possible this is screwed up in some way.

Installing the codecs from here might help: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=mp3+codec

Sorry - but that didn't work for me... in fact the Fraunhofer mp3 codec is already my default :-(
So anything to change in the config? Or even something completely different?

No, there is absolutely nothing you can change/configure. It just uses you system default mp3 codec, but this seems to not be functioning on your setup. Sorry.

But how? All other players work fine... GBPVR even plays Net Radio that is based on mp3 and my own Xvid encoded Vids that use mp3 as sound format...

Well seems that I really have to try some other codecs...

Until then, there isn't any plugin that could use e.g. Winamp as the default player?

Thx for ur help - Matt

If you download GraphEdit.exe (google for it), and select 'render media file' from the menu, select your mp3 file, then press "play", then this is exactly what GB-PVR does. It'll at least show you what MP3 codecs and other components are being used on your machine.

I tried with Graphedit before - and it did simply nothing - so now it's clear why GBPVR doesn't work. ;-)
Doesn't Graphedit work with Direct Show Filters? So might it be possible that I got the right Codecs, but not the corresponding Direct Show Filters?
Well at least I got things started now :-)

Thx Matt

Problem SOLVED!

Exactly as I said - there wasn't any direct show filter for mp3 that my system knew ;-) So I installed DS Mp3 Source from free-codecs.com and everything works fine for me!

Thx sub for ur help - btw GBPVR is really a great program (used to try to get Mediaportal to work properly for several months now) and it's setup was done in 3 days!!!

Bye Matt
