right, but why does the window start out ~16:10 regardless of what shape the monitor actually is? I get the same bars as the posters above, but neither of my screens are 16:10.

It should start the same size/location as it was when you last ran the app, so assuming you've ever resized the window, then it should match the aspect ratio of the desktop. There might be a bug when you've first installed the app, and haven't yet resized the app for the first time.

No, that's definitely not what it does. I'm not the first to report this either.

As a sanity check, I just forced my monitor to a 16:10 resolution (1680x1050). When I start NextPVR in a window, it starts at 16:10 and stays locked at 16:10 when I resize. Then I went back to a 16:9 resolution (1920x1080), and the previous behavior resumed: it starts with the window shaped to 16:10, and snaps to 16:9 as soon as I try to resize the window.

edit: and just for giggles I then tried forcing to a 4:3 resolution (1600x1200), and the behavior is consistent. NextPVR starts with the window shaped at 16:10, and as soon as I try to resize it snaps taller to 4:3.

edit2: this behavior is the same on the main HTCP box, which was a completely new install and started with 3.0.2.

I can confirm that resize NextPVR will not get rid of the black bars on my 1920 x 1200 (16:10) monitor.

nor should it. as I showed above, none of this happens on a 16:10 monitor.

try forcing your monitor to 1920x1080, you'll see the same behavior I do.

Ok, so as I said...It should start the same size/location as it was when you last ran the app, so assuming you've ever resized the window, then it should match the aspect ratio of the desktop. There might be a bug when you've first installed the app, or if you've changed your desktop resolution (which is a very rare activity these days with flat panels), and haven't yet resized the app for the first time.

Even after I resize the window and then close it, it always restarts at 16:10 no matter what resolution my display is set to.

edit: it does remember the location, but the size is always 16:10

here are pics, from the 4:3 HTPC via TightVNC so you can see the window relative to the 4:3 (1024x768) display area:

1- first opened, at 16:10
2- resize snapped to 4:3, moved
3- opened again, back at 16:10 but upper left corner is in same location as when it was closed

It should be the same ratio as your desktop is, regardless of what resolution you've got. ie, if you've got it set to half the width of your screen, then it should be half the height of your screen...regardless of desktop resolution is.

So if you've got a 16:10 monitor, I'd expect a 16:10 shaped window, regardless of desktop resolution.
