HauppauheTVService is stuck in "starting" and you can not start or stop.
Trying to run WinTV7 to "test" and it says it cant run since the service is not started.
I have done a system restore to yesturday and still showing same problem. Several fresh installs.
As soon as I install Wintv7, the service shows the "start" button but if you start it fails and staying on "starting". After reboot, it wants to start and gets stuck.

That is why I suggested that you disable it and reboot.

I can't disable it...no options are available for that inside services.msc...everything greyed out. If I completely uninstall WinTV7 and manually force the drives, what do I need to do for SoftPVR?

I uninstalled WinTV7 v3.2 and went back to v2.2d which allows you to just install the drives, which I did. This left HauppageTVServer service in the off mode (start button available). I then resinatlled WinTV and the service stays off. However, I am still left with "no tuner available" in WinTV.

Restart NPVR and I get "unable to find capture device".

Note GBPVR still finds card and can display LiveTV so the card is there and windows driver is working.

You get "Unable to find capture device" bacause the SoftPVR components are not installed. There is a section about manually install the SoftPVR components here: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR

He can ignore that because WinTV is installed.

Yes, WinTV is installed (3.2 and 2.2 tried). WinTV shows the tuner under devices and says it is available and I run tuner setup to add the s-video under the config but then it says "no tuner available" when trying to watch livetv. Similar error for NPVR

This is annoying and confusing.

I decided to stop all services associated with GBPVR and NPVR and then ran WinTV7 (2.2) and it finally worked (no other changes).
So then I reinstalled WinTV7 3.2 and it still worked.
I then reenabled all the services and it now works.

The confusion is that this final state is the same place I started. Also, now the HauppageTVServer service runs fine; even though essentially nothing changed
(I did 3 clean installs of 3.2 this morning to no avail).

I am worried since this seemed to break for no reason over night and after 3 hours this morning I am non the wiser as to what broke or how I got things back again.

1. Why would HauppageTVServer stop working and then start again?
2. Should this service be running?
3. Why would NPVR stop working over night with no changes?
4. Is "WinTV Recording Status" required in the Windows startup folder? I now I deleted this last night during the "everything works so clean up" phase.

2. Haupp.'s service should NOT be running as it can grab the tuner and prevent npvr from accessing it. My guess is that is what happen last night.
3. see above.
4. No.

In the log you posted, it looked like Windows failed to start the device. Most likely reason is it was in use in one of these other apps. If you make sure these other apps are disabled, then you probably wont have this problem.

Happened again last night. I got everything working, recorded a show, and left things running. Over night, it failed again. NPVR and WinTV say there is no tuner again.

Disabling about anything I could think of seemed to allow NPVR to work again.

I am thinking now the GBPVR service might have been the problem. I have stopped the recording service (system tray) but it seems it was still present in the "services" when looking at services.msc.

I take it I should stop the HauppaugeTVServer...How can I permanently stop this service?
I have GBPVR service running...how do I disable without uninstalling GBPVR? Just stop it?
What about WinTVTray?
anything else?
