Hi there.
Just installed a pvr-150 card in my pc. WinTV2000 registered all 34 channels and works great. Obviously I wanted to switch to gbpvr to get EPG.
The EPG (o2grabber) works so far as I can see what's on in the tv-guide. However I can't watch tv in gbpvr.
I tried using the tuning assistant. But it didn't help.
How do I get gbpvr to register the channels already in WinTV2000?
Kind regards.

What happens when you try?

Why didnt it help? What happened? You're supposed to write down the channel numbers for each channel it finds, and key them into the config app.

At first I didn't get any image - just noise like between channels on analog tv. Now I seem to have fiddled around so I get the same programme on every channel.
see attached image 01
The channel called "Zulu" is shown on all presets like in this case on the preset for "TV3"

sub Wrote:Why didnt it help? What happened? You're supposed to write down the channel numbers for each channel it finds, and key them into the config app.

I got error message "ConnectPins failed!" (attached image 02)
And after clicking ok I got error message as shown in image 03.
After clicking ok it starts to go through 368 channels (image 05).
I'm never shown a result that I could copy into the config app. Or I just don't know how to find the result.
In the config all 34 channels are shown (image 07).

I really appreciate your help.
Kind regards,

I've been at it for several hours again. I must be doing something elementary wrong.
WinTV2000 shows all my channels in very nice quality and in the order I want.
In gbpvr I will sometimes get 1 programme and it doesn't change when I flick through the channels (tv-guide works splendidly btw).
I haven't been able to get tuning assistant to inform me of channel numbers.
I've tried editing the registry as told in http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...gAssistant
but there's no change.
I've tried to manually put other channel numbers in the config and I've tried using frequencies in Hz.
Can someone see where I goof up?

Hi Peter,

first of all to the tuning assistant:

1.) Error "Connect Pins failed" - one reason for this error is the different languages Hauppauge uses with their drivers. As I'm in Germany I had to replace "analog Video in" with "analoger Videoeingang" which is the appropriate in German. Maybe you try it on Dansk or even German...

2.) After that u might be able to get the tuning assistant to work.

The Channels in your config are those u imported with ur EPG... now you normally do have to point the "source channels" to the right numbers in your registry.

But I would suppose u to start from the beginning:

1.) Save your autotune registry entrie
2.) Empty your EPG in GBPVR and delete the EPG File
3.) Start right from the beginning with the "Presets" Package on http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...gAssistant
(right at the bottom)

Good Luck

Matt

The driver I'm using is english (2.0.30.23074) dated 15-03-2005 so I shouldn't think that was causing problems. Besides I wouldn't know where to edit in the file :-)

I'll go through the "presets" routine again.
Could you perhaps confirm that I'm on the right track? The first part of my "mypresets.txt" looks like this:
# UPC cable frequencies København
# format: <preset number> <frequency in Hz>
"
"

1 210250000 dk1.dr.dk "DR1"
2 217250000 re1.dr.dk "TV2"
3 663250000 tv3.dr.dk "TV3"
4 203250000 dk2.dr.dk "DR2"
5 831250000 t2z.dr.dk "TV2 Zulu"
6 647250000 d3%20.dr.dk "3+"
7 743250000 dsc.dr.dk "Discovery"

becoming a .reg-file like this:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS0-1]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS0-1]

"1"=dword:0c882910
"2"=dword:0cf2f8d0
"3"=dword:27886450
"4"=dword:0c1d5950
"5"=dword:318bde50
"6"=dword:26944050
"7"=dword:2c4d1850

resulting in an xml file like this:

- <tv>
-

<display-name>DR1</display-name>

-

<display-name>TV2</display-name>

-

<display-name>TV3</display-name>

-

<display-name>DR2</display-name>

-

<display-name>TV2 Zulu</display-name>

-

<display-name>3+</display-name>

-

<display-name>Discovery</display-name>

</tv>

Thanks for helping out.

Now I've completed the steps in the http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...gAssistant
guide regarding "Semi-automatically specifying frequencies".
Same result :-(
I had a suspiscion that it had to do with country codes in the registry. Unfortunately I cannot see what's wrong (attached screendump from registry).
I wish there was a guide to export data from WinTV2000 and import them into gbpvr.

Hi Peter,

I had a look at my registry and I can find GBPVRs entries at:

TVAutoTune\TS0-1

Maybe changing TS045-1 into TS0-1 would help...

You can try FreqCopy as well : http://www.prize.nl/software/pvr/ this tool is supposed to copy the WinTV2k settings out (haven't tried this one yet)

Good luck Matt

The TS0-1 key was my first try so in fact the TS045-1 key was my own attempt to make a key for Denmark (country code 045). So both have been tried.
FreqCopy I've tried also.
The thing is - it doesn't seem to matter. Changing channels switches the tv-guide info in the overlay just as it's supposed to. But the channel does not change. Manually entering channel numbers using the remote while watching live tv also has no effect on the channel shown.
And still - WinTV2000 shows all the channels. But I'd love to have gbpvr so I can use the epg.
Thanks a lot for helping.

One last attempt could be to try to find out which entries in your registry GBPVR really uses (if you haven't tried that yet) - and which entries WinTV uses...
For me it worked fine when I deleted all other entries I had in my registry so that just one was left - before I had the problem that some channels were called right but the wrong channel was shown...

Hope you'll get it right... GBPVR is worth the labor ;-)

(btw - if you cannot cope with that - try using mediaportal, maybe that works for you)
