Overview:
I installed the program and configured it for two capture devices a Hauppauge 350 and a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-USB2 .I am also trying to use the USB-UIRT for STB control and GBPVR control. Each capture device has its own STB connection. Via s-video and composite audio.

Configuration:
I went though the configuration utility and assigned each capture device it’s own number , assigned the Direct Recording Plug-in, configured each for S-Video External Tuner, EPG source for Zap2It and Channel changer as USB-UIRT. All seemed to go well the EPG was downloaded for each device. I then configured Playback for the 350 decoder out to TV and set up the commands for the USB-UIRT to control GBPVR. I also learned the remotes numeric and enter keys during the configuration.

Problems:

GBPVR started ok and the menu was visible on both the PC monitor and TV. When I either selected Live-TV or a program for the guide I received an error message something to the effect that “cannot communicate with the recording service” so I tried restarting the recording service but kept getting the same message. I then decided to take “BABY STEPS” so I deleted the second capture device (USB2 ) in configuration and restarted GBPVR. Now it worked. I could view TV form either Live TV or the Guide. So I tried putting the second capture device back and ended up with the same error message.

The second problems was that the USB-UIRT did not seem to be working as a channel changer or with the remote. I tried changing channels with the remote you would see the channel numbers on OSD , the OSD would now show the new channel but the channel would not change. Up/Down channel did not work either. Again during configuration the program accepted all required input from the remote through the USB-UIRT.

So I apologize for the long post but wanted to try and provide as much information as possible. If anyone has and suggestions on how to fix these problems I would appreciate your help. I would like to get GBPVR up and running with my Hauppauge 350 but also require

On your first problem, both the PVR350 and PVR USB2 should be configured as device #1.

Sub , thanks for the suggestion. I changed the device setting on both capture devices to #1 and this eliminated the error message, however now I do not get live TV either from the Guide or the Live TV menu selection. After making either selection in just returns to either the Guide or the blank video screen. The recording service shows both capture devices a sleeping. Any suggestions?

Its probably related to you choice of video decoder. You've got one installed right?

Also try disabling the live preview mode to see if it helps.

Yes I am using the Nvidia DVD decoder. Don't know how to disable live preview mode. Thanks again.

Edit:
By the way on positive note the USb-Uirt is now changing the channel.

I unchecked Live preview mode on the Misc tab and still having the same problem. I also set the video decoder to Nvidia in playback as it was previously set to Default. Still no video.

My humble apologies. For some reason I either left the capture device as PVR 150 on both devices or it got reset, but more than likley my fault. Its working now sorry for the dumb mistake.

I have resolved all of the issues in my first post with one exception and that is using the USB-UIRT as receiver. I searched the forum and found http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...mce+remote which seems to confirm others have this problem and their is no fix for it. The problem in a nutshell is the Remote programmed in GPVR to navigate using the USB-UIRT just stop working.

I was very encouraged that the zone control in th USB-UIRT worked well and controls my two Scientific Atlantic 4200 STB's. However having to use a second receiver unit does not make a whole lot of sense.

I was interested in moving away from SageTv because of its problems with the Hauppauge 350 end of file problem (which they refuse to fix) which is not present in GBPVR. However solving one problem to have to live with another is not a good decision. Thanks again for your help.
