Qwerty2014 Wrote:Hi sub,

I've just switched from release 3.2.9 to the latest release 3.3.8.
In this latest release with my Digital Devices DVB-C duoflex tuner I also get exactly the same error message response as with the former release.
Is it possible to add support for this tuner in NextPVR?
You can find the log files in message #8 of this thread.
Can you post a current set of logs? There is some slightly different messages in 3.3.8.

Hi sub,

In the attachement you can find part of a new NPVR.log.
I've tried to do a network scan on the tuner of digital devices duoflex c/t, which resulted in an error message "Unable to start device. Device failed to start."
Hope this log will help you more.

It looks like this device is refusing to connect to the NextPVR TS Mon filter. I've got no idea why though - every other device does. There must be something different about this device. Almost impossible to guess what though.

That really is a pity!
I've done some testing in Media Portal and the Digital Devices DVB-C tuner works perfectly in that PVR system.

I prefer NextPVR (used to make use of GPVR in recent past for years) because the back-end is much more predictable and stable. Only the front-end, especially the GUI interface of NextPVR, contains a hell of a lot of bugs. Media Portal is just the other way round. The back-end is unpredictable and unstable. However the front-end is really stable and mostly bug free.

I can bypass the front-end GUI interface myself, by getting access straight to the database and making use of command line / batch / script commands. I can't bypass the core system in the back-end. That's the most important reason why I prefer NextPVR in favor of Media Portal as a PVR system.

A pity that NextPVR isn't able to support these tuners. Now I'm more less forced to change to another PVR system, while I was happy for years with GPVR and lately with NextPVR.
I've used for years analog tuners of Hauppauge with an Windows XP machine. The machine crashed a couple of month ago and I had to make a change to Win 8.1 and recently to digital tv.

I'll try to find if I can find what has happened here (with the help of Google), but when in no luck, I'm going to change my PVR system.

Sub, thanks for now.

Digital Devices supposedly has a couple of devices on their way to me in a package, but it seems to be taking it's sweet time getting to me. When I get it, if I see the same sort of problem, I'll fix it.

@Qwerty2014 Have you run the initialisation that comes with the card and is supposed to run at each reboot?

Reddwarf,

Yes, I have made use of the initialization that comes with the card.
In the initialization process I can define how the separate tuners will be connected with a specific CI CAM module (I have the digital devices twin ci cam). I have the tuners configured to only 'dvb-c'. The settings for 'dvb-t' and windows media are deselected.

I have tried with and without the tuner connected to my CI CAM module. The setting keeps its configuration even after a reboot.
Beside of that, at the same time within MediaPortal, everything works fine for the FTA channels without the need of a CAM and also works fine for the encrypted channels with the use of the CAM.

MP may support the CAM but npvr does not. You'll have to use a softcam like Acamd and a cardserver like NewCS with a Phoenix type smartcardreader. I have run the D Cine C/T without problems, but it stopped working when I accidently removed the initialization from the reboot script in windows. Try installing the drivers again.

Can you give me your example of the initialization from your reboot script in windows?
I've already looked for the softcam strategy. I've read about the possibility for getting the CAM running fine with the use of OSCAM.

I've tried to disconnect / deselect the use of the CAM in the initialization procedure but still doesn't want to work for the FTA channels in npvr.

Sorry no, my Cine C/T stopped wrking a couple of weeks ago, but you should see it in the Startup tab when you run MSConfig.exe

I would not recomment OSCAM, if you want multirecord to work you need Acamd/NewCS
