After moving, and switching to a different cable provider, (Changed from Suddenlink to Comcast) I need to make EPG and Recurring Recordings updates to our NPVR server. I scanned the Wiki and did some searches here, but I'm not seeing anything about the best way to proceed. Do I need to blow everything away and start over, or is there a way to remap Recurring Recordings to the new EPG. I have already made a backup copy of npvr.db3, just in case. ;-)

What is the best way to proceed from here? Are there other things to consider?

Thanks!

I would think you have to set it all up again, I had a similar problem when I switched from dvb-t to dvb-c some time ago. The recurring recordings set up on the dvb-t channels did not migrate to the dvb-c tuners even thou the channel had the same name. Possibly because it had a different OID, and I guess the same will happen when you switch provider.

If you know what you are doing with sqlite it takes editing just a few number in the recurring_recording table <ChannelOID>####</ChannelOID>

Code:
UPDATE recurring_recording SET match_rules= replace( match_rules, '<ChannelOID>1234</ChannelOID>', '<ChannelOID>4321</ChannelOID>' )

In the past I found I had to go to various troubles to keep the channelOID the same, or as Martin showed, update the ChannelOID in my recurring recordings. However, just tonight I happened to accidentally discover that NPVR now matches on the channel name if the ChannelOID doesn't match. Witness:
Code:
2014-11-14 00:00:30.938    [INFO][9]    UpdateRecurringRecording(326, 'Friends'):
<Rules><EPGTitle>Friends</EPGTitle><ChannelOID>[color=#FF0000]6944[/color]</ChannelOID><ChannelName>KTLA</ChannelName><StartTime>2014-09-15T03:30:00.0000000Z</StartTime><EndTime>2014-09-15T04:00:00.0000000Z</EndTime><PrePadding>0</PrePadding><PostPadding>1</PostPadding><Quality>0</Quality><Keep>4</Keep><RecordingDirectoryID></RecordingDirectoryID></Rules>
2014-11-14 00:00:30.993    [DEBUG][9]    LoadListingsMatchingTitle(channel=[color=#FF0000]7868[/color],title=Friends)
2014-11-14 00:00:30.998    [DEBUG][9]     - Potential episode at: 11/14/2014 11:30:00 PM
2014-11-14 00:00:30.998    [DEBUG][9]       ...check IsValid()
2014-11-14 00:00:30.998    [DEBUG][9]       ...scheduling episode
Even though the ChannelOID didn't match, because I kept the ChannelName the same the recurring recording works anyway. This is definitely somewhat new, it did not originally work this way.

Thanks all! I'll give the ChannelOID and Channel Name stuff a go.

How do I clear out the previous channels and replace them with the new ones? Do I just empty the EPG and rescan? Go to devices and scan again? Something else? I don't want to blow it up if I can avoid it. Wink

Thanks!

Friends was great at the time, although I think it had outstayed its welcome by the end. I fear The Big Bang Theory is going the same way unfortunately.

(There, now you're not alone)
