I was watching Live TV using the native NPVR client when all of a sudden Live TV stopped and the picture just froze. After a few minutes, I discovered that my wife turned on a different PC on the same network and started watching Live TV using WMC. At the time, only one tuner out of three of the HDHR Prime was being used, but WMC decided to use the particular tuner being used by NPVR and basically stole it.

I repeated this process multiple times. It appears that if WMC on a different PC wants a tuner, it takes it regardless if it is being used by NPVR or not. Is this a known problem or is it just that NPVR and WMC don't play well together?

I'm no WMC expert, but usually you disable wmc when you have npvr installed. Unless there is a spesific reason you need to have wmc? Yout wife could use a npvr client as well I guess?

Bump sub, it's more than a WMC issue with UPnP http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post482218

@Reddwarf wiith the CableCard devices in the US WMC is needed for DRM.

In HDHR Setup, make sure that dynamic tuner allocation and and the MCE background scan are disabled. Do this on all machines configured to access the HDHRs.

Also note that if you ever run the TV Signal setup in Media Center, it will disrupt any current use of the HDHRs, even if you do not actually configure them in Media Center. I've ended a few NPVR recordings early forgetting this.

Ah yes, didn't cross my mind... Still I think his wife should be using a npvr client instead of wmc directly.

She would if the remote control features worked like they do in WMC. I think I added something on the wishlist about that, but I am not admitting to it.

You know that by using HIP (or something similar) you can program the function of every button on your remote?

A

I unchecked the boxes in HDHR as you suggested, however, the same thing happens - WMC gets away with the robbery.
