NPVR Bad Reception vs Hauppauge WinTV

My TV tuner (WinTV-HVR-2255) gets fine reception with the WinTV app from Hauppauge, but the NPVR has to buffer (alot) and sometimes locks up or freezes and continues.
Whats up with that... Only happens on UHF channels.

There shouldn't be any reason the reception would be different, assuming they're tuned to the same frequency.

That's easy for you to say

Decoders might be different. In NPVR Settings/Decoders set the video and audio decoders to the the Hauppauge decoders (HCW something, or Main Concept?). Set the video renderer to EVR (assuming you are not on XP) and the audio renderer to default. See if that helps. Of course, logs will reveal what is really going on, so post them. See the sticky for instructions on this.

It'd definitely be worth doing a recording, and try playing that recording in another player, to see if it shows the same problem as live tv.
