I am trying to use the Hauppauge remote and it just doesnt seem to work.

I even installed the WinTV app and it does not work.

I made sure the batteries are in correctly and even changed them. The IR calbe in pluged into the correct port on the PVR 350.

What could i be missing? I instaleld the drivers that came with the PVR 350 on the CD. I tried the newer drivers but the card did not work, so I am sticking with the old.
Could it be there are sep drivers for the remote that were not installed.

Would IR.exe somehow work with it. I am willing to use it if it works.

You could try killing ir.exe if it is running, and select the 'use direct access to Hauppauge remote' in the config app.

Hi,
I had the same pb. Without having ir installed no remote with GBPVR even if selecting 'use direct access to Hauppauge remote'.
Don't know why, I installed IR, take it off start menu, and select 'use direct access to Hauppauge remote', now it's fine.

It needs to use some dlls from the IR software, so you need to have it installed regardless of whether you use direct access or not.

IR.exe is one of the programs installed with the Hauppauge PVR250/350 software.

Is there any advantage using ir.exe over direct access or the other way around?
I'm not always right

If your you use ir.exe then the remote can be shared with other applications, and GB-PVR is a little faster to start.

If you use direct access, then GB-PVR doesn't need to be in the foreground.

I got a PVR350 and with IR.EXE running I can with the Vol.- and Ch.-buttons navigate in the GB-PVR menus, TV-guide ...

If I disable the IR.EXE in MSCONFIG.EXE and use 'use direct access to Hauppauge remote', and restarting the computer, then I can not use my remote at all!!

On my remote, which came with the PVR350, there are some menu-buttons (left, right, up and down), how can I get them in use ?

A small update on this issue.


i recently bought the latest version of pvr-350 which has the new remote with navigation-buttons, up, down, left, right..

It was a bit odd to use the ch-up, down and vol-up, down when there was these nice buttons.. so.. what to do?

Well, edit the Irremote.ini in your windows-directory !
yeah, yeah, i know it's old news but havent seen any good guide here :-)

So, how to do it?
1. Make sure that you have installed latest version of ir-application (ir32_245_22267.exe)
2. Either install gb-pvr again, since it adds neccessary info in irremote, or copy and paste following code:

paste this directky under [Applications] in the file.

So... what we have here is some more buttons to play around with.. :-)

Also, if you check around in the ini-file you will se that there is codes for every button on the remote, and you can map them as you wish according to key-shortcuts working in gb-pvr.

I tried this with IR.exe running and doubt it works without it.
