Ga-day!

Looking for alternative to WMC. Came across NextPRV and hoping to use with the above network tuner.

To my surprise NextPVR pick up tuners without fuss. However, when viewing live TV, picture jaggeder and audio stuttering. Muck around with the audio and video codecs. Got to a point where I could view standard definition TV ok (I think) but HD channels no gowa.

At this point, I was really hoping to obtain help with setup? I am more then happy to donate money!!!!!

Does anyone know whether use of this tuner is possible?

I'd never heard of this tuner before.

Are you connected to a wireless or wired network? The HDHomeRun network tuner has a the ability for me to ask for just some portions of the whole broadcast, cutting down on the amount of data that needs to be sent across the network. This device will instead be having to send the entire broadcast, which might need to be able to sustain a constant 30Mbps or so.

Not surprised you haven't heard of before. Not very common I feel. Previous google searches did find however (coincidence) someone in NZ selling/using one or both. I think youtube video comes to mind when I first bought say 5 years ago. Works with iPad and Avermedia subsequently released patch for people to use with WMC.

Anyways, no, connected via gigabit network switch. From memory I think it sends the entire broadcast. I know when I was recording on one channel and viewing on another worked smoother when I upgraded my switch a year or 2 ago.

I've attached the logs this time if it helps. If have to send entire broadcast does this mean I cannot use NextPVR? I was kinda hoping to setup front end with Kodi on a Ubuntu machine in living room.

Kind regards, Mark

Network may not be the issue. It just sounded like a likely candidate.

It might just be a playback issue though. ie, try doing a recording, then playback the recording - does it have the same problem? If you then playback the recording in another player like VLC, does the problem still show?

Still same issue. Did as you mentioned, used VLC as well. Seems to me to be a codec issue. The other thing I forgot to mentioned, get a black screen when trying to view HD channels. I.e. no picture at all.

Just a thought, would it be more efficient if we teamview?

If it was decoder issue (ie decoder you've got selected in NextPVR), I'd expect you'd see the problem in NextPVR, but it'd playback fine in VLC.

Since you're seeing the same problem in VLC, it sounds like it's something to do with what the F200 is sending across the network to NextPVR.

NextPVR doesn't know this is a network tuner. The drivers you've got installed hide that fact from NextPVR. It just thinks it's talking to a tuner plugged in locally.

I'd try that same VLC test with this channel. ie, try recording one of these HD channels, check if you get a file on disk, and if it can be played in another player.

WOW, the HD channel worked!!!!! I perhaps may not have given the SD channel enough time to record. (apologies) It does need a couple of seconds sometimes to settle down.

So where to from now? What can I do to improve the viewer?

If it's working in another player, but not NextPVR, it'll most likely come down to the decoders you've selected on the Settings->Decoders screen.

I can't remember if Australia switched to H.264. In VLC, Tools->Codec menu item, does it show the video as MPEG2 or H.264?

It is H.264, see attached. I've also captured some of the other settings as well.

I can confirm recording of two channels at once worked fine as well.
