sub Wrote:Could you see the device on Settings->Devices? From there you'd typically double click the device to see it's settings, then hit the 'import' button, choose the way you'll receive channels from the set top box (composite, svideo, or fixed channel 3/4), then select your EPG source (which provides NextPVR with the list of channel numbers and channel names), then hit ok and your channels are set up. I think I might have picked the wrong source before. Under devices, 6 are listed. Scanning channels right now. Hopefully this works

It look like on the Settings->Decoders screen, you need to set the video renderer back to 'EVR', and you need to select an MPEG2 video decoder.

Ok, I changed video renderer to evr and under video decoders mpeg2 video to "Intel Media Sdk mpeg-2 decoder. Still no video. Am I missing a codec?

What other MPEG2 video decoders do you have available? This is most likely your problem. The Intel SDK decoder is limited to specific uses, and unlikely to be usable for this task.
NextPVR doesn't come with any decoders, since they cost money to legally distribute. Instead it lists the decoders you already have on your machine.

I picked "microsoft dtv-dvd video decoder". That got me a picture. The sounds seems to be off and it looks like I am only getting a 4:3 aspect ratio. Just tried mainconcept mpeg 2 decoder and that looks like the right one
Now let me do some research on setting up recordings. Thanks for the help.

Great.
You're using an analog device, so yes the device will be outputting 4:3. Some devices have registry settings that can be used to get them to do 16:9 instead. Some examples: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/forum/showthr...r-than-4-3

Just tried the registry edit to get 16x9 output and of course now both wintv and nextpvr are not working now.

I guess remove the registry setting then, and reboot, then you should be back to where you were before.
