In years gone by, HDHomeRun users sometimes found that they could not scan for channels without selecting "Other: ATSC/QAM" as application in the Silicondust software. (That setting also prevented occasional issues with recordings that prevented Comskip from working.) However recent versions of the Silicondust software no longer include that setting. I recall mvallevand saying that he did not update his Silicondust software in order to keep the Other setting. It also seems like he once recommended the Mediaportal setting for BDA Compatibility Mode. For that matter, you could try any BDA setting to see if scanning works.

I've tried the other options with no luck.
I'm not sure how or why the HDHR webpage detects channels but their own setup app does not (the same as NPVR) so I'm pretty sure it's not a NPVR problem and shouldn't bother sub and the rest of you guys with this problem though I'm thankful for the help.
I'll see what SD can do to help. All appearances are it's seen in the network and is operating as it should. When scanning for channels, I can also hear the fan kick on. So far, all the things on the SD website suggested are the ones we all do before we even post with a problem.

I'm pretty sure that I remember sub saying that the HDHR Extend doesn't use the BDA drivers, but instead accesses the device using the same IP streaming method used by the HDHR Prime.

And, I'm also pretty sure that when NextPVR is scanning for channels, it is the NextPVR.exe image not the Recording Service (running NRecord.exe) that is sending the commands to the HDHR and making the IP connections.

So, I'd double (or triple) check that either you don't have any firewall running or that there are exceptions allowing all 3 of NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe, and NDigitalHost.exe to have both incoming and outgoing connections.

I've tried this on 3 different computers with the AV and firewalls turned off. But checking the firewall, all the needed exceptions are there. And, when using it for QAM, it scanned without any problems so would scanning for over the air channels be any different?
One thing I noticed is that there use to be a tab (I think) on the HDHR setup for Digital Antenna and not only Digital Cable and I no longer see that so I'm wondering if that's part of the problem or not. I've not ever tried using an antenna on this device before.

On the first tab (Configuration) of the HDHR Setup program, do you have the Source Type set to Digital Antenna? If you don't have at least one set to Digital Antenna, then the Digital Antenna tab is hidden. (At least on my system.)

I have no other options other than whats shown on the tab. I do remember SD having a tab like that when I first got an older version though.
Here's what I see (and I really am starting to feel like a huge dufus because all this is just too easy).

Oh snap! I now see where the Antenna tab is.
See I really am a dufus. Crap I feel so small now.
Let me run a scan and hopefully get back with good results.

The new SD software does not give you the choice of application - it now has the BDA Compatibility selection. It may prove useful for you once you get a signal to try different ones - I found that they do make a difference. I started with the NPVR setting but have found the BeyondTV setting to work even better. I seem to remember a post where Sub explained that NPVR uses the BDA driver and not IP streaming (but I could be wrong).

It depends upon which model of the HDHR you have.

The HDHomeRun Prime shows up with a type of 'HDHR' on the Settings->Devices screen. It talks to these devices directly (no BDA drivers).

All other HDHomeRun devices use the BDA drivers, and show up as 'ATSC' and 'QAM' (or DVB-T and DVB-C for the DVB version).
