I'm OK with GBPVR moving the recordings from one source to the other, as long as it doesn't move them in time. Then, if I find a way to force PriorityScheduling to never schedule concurrent recordings, then in theory, there should always be an available tuner.

The problem with the padding where during those 2 or 3 minutes you actually have 2 shows recording might show up indeed. I thought about that, and have no idea if or how that'll work.

But as I was planning the purchase of a PVR-500, I would have a total of 3 tuners, so even if GBPVR records 2 shows for a couple of minutes, there should still always be a tuner free... All I need now is someone to pitch in on how priorityrecordings work, and if that weird parameter I found in the docs is what I think it is...

As I said, give it a go. If it doesnt work though, I cant help you. The reality is, there is current no mechanism in GB-PVR for setting aside a tuner just for live tv. You might get lucky.

Quote:BTW, the PVR-500 works with GBPVR, right? or should I just buy 2 PVR-150?
Either should be fine.

NP Sub... Was just trying to understand the GBPVR mechanics more to estimate my chance of success :p

Thanks

I don't have a lot of hair left, but using CDK scheduler I can limit so that I only record 1 show at a time automatically

Here's the PriorityRecording.xml template
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<GBPVR d1p1:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\PriorityRecordings.xsd" xmlns:d1p1="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
  <Configuration>
    <MissingRecordingPriority>0</MissingRecordingPriority>
    <Conflicts>Delete</Conflicts>
    <DuplicatesAllowed>Yes</DuplicatesAllowed>
  </Configuration>
  <Recording priority="1">
    <ProgramName>Monk</ProgramName>
    <Quality>Medium</Quality>
    <CaptureSource>2</CaptureSource>
    <Duplicates>
      <Recorded>No</Recorded>
      <Scheduled>No</Scheduled>
    </Duplicates>
    <Padding>
      <PrePadding>1</PrePadding>
      <PostPadding>2</PostPadding>
    </Padding>
  </Recording>
  <Recording priority="1">
    <ProgramName>Scrubs</ProgramName>
    <Quality>Medium</Quality>
    <CaptureSource>2</CaptureSource>
    <Duplicates>
      <Recorded>No</Recorded>
      <Scheduled>No</Scheduled>
    </Duplicates>
    <Padding>
      <PrePadding>1</PrePadding>
      <PostPadding>2</PostPadding>
    </Padding>
  </Recording>
</GBPVR>

The "CaptureSource" attribute is indeed the capture source OID I found in the gbpvr.mdb CAPTURE_SOURCE table.

If you watch live tv close to the time the recording is due to start, GB-PVR can move the recording another capture source under certain circumstances.

That's possible... However, as long as no two shows are scheduled at the same time, it should not cause an issue if it's moved to another tuner... Since there should always be one free (I have 3 total)

However I ran more tests, and it looks like CDK scheduler does not always take the CaptureSource parameter into account... Not too sure why, still troubleshooting
