Hi folks,

I am trying to move my npvr environment from one computer to another. The target system did have npvr running on it at one time before this current effort.
I copied the users/public/npvr folder from the source machine to the target and then I also ran the npvr installer to bring the target up to the most current version of npvr (to match the source machine).

I'm getting an error message from the installer on the target that reads
"Unable to start service: System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service NPVR Recording Service on computer"
"System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: An instance of the service is already running."

I have done everything from uninstalling, manually stopping the npvr recording service, deleting the executales from programfiles\npvr, taskkill of the npvr service, reboots in between, etc... but every time I go to install, I get this error. Is the installer trying to start the service more than once?

Any help would be appreciated. Windows 10 32bit with npvr 3.9.2.161119.

Thanks all!

NextPVR stores configuration and other data in two files ... config.xml and npvr.db3 ... both are in the data folder that should be at C:\Users\Public\NPVR. My suggestion would be to uninstall NextPVR, delete the NPVR folder in Program Files, delete the NPVR folder in Users\Public, reboot the computer, reinstall NextPVR and then copy config.xml and npvr.db3 from one computer to the other.

You should be able to safely ignore that problem after an install, I wrote yesterday on this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...op-service I get it all the time one one machine. Kill NRecord and restart should be good enough or simply restart your PC. If you aren't running from C:\Program Files (x86) you might have other problems because of the NPVR registry entries.

thanks Martin. I'll have to try that. This is on a 32bit install and it looks like everything is running out of c:\program files\npvr (not x86), so I may have to dig through the registry I guess.

thanks again!
