Martin, it stops.

I've not had BrettB's issue. Everything stops where the padding is. 1 min before and 1 min after.

I have 7 other recordings that did the same issue.

It seems like everything started at Simon & Simon.S07E06.Forever hold your piece.ts. That files size reach 736kb.

Is it possible that I just overworked NPVR or my Quad or Windows that night? I just realized I had back to back, sometime on top of each other, multiple movies recording too.

Honestly, everything seems fine now.

Ok unfortunately the logging in NextPVR isn't intended for mass TV show collectors like you so I think you will have to capture the logs much closer to the problem time.

Luckily my series, mostly older ones, are almost complete. So it will just be a few new series and older movies.

I knew when I choose all those good older movies Sunday night Monday morning that I was probably pushing my luck. I moved my movie recordings over to my USB 955Q box since this happened. I was using it to capture my many, many VHS collections, started in 1984. It doesn't help there are 3 other people saying I want this and I want that. I went Quad hog happy.

I know it's odd to collect a lot of stuff but I am working closer to losing all my mobility and I like the old shows. I'm afraid they will do to other channels like they did with TVLAND and make it first runs.

I want a video jukebox to choose from.

Thanks Martin (and sub)

My issue repeated itself exactly on the same day and time frame this week.

I'm not sure how to expand the logging or if it is even necessary.

The only thing going on task event wise is Windows Defender for the schedule scan on the recording drive.

I've changed the task scheduler days for the schedule scan for that drive and I'm going to see if it happens again this week with the task changed. I'm going to look at that day's recordings and then the new day's and see if it recurs on the new day and not the old day.

My QuadHD recordings had been doing good for a while, then I had another zero byte recording last night.

My logs are attached. The show in question was "The White House Inside Story_20170425_20002200".

Any idea what is causing the recording to abort?

How does Channel 10 play as Live TV? If it is ok, I noted another failure last week too on the same tuner/channel. If you disable all tuners except Hauppauge WinTV 885 ATSC Tuner/Demod (2) can you still watch channel 10?

I disabled the other tuners and Channel 10 plays fine. I tried recording a show on that channel too, no problem.

The Hauppauge signal monitor showed a signal strength around 29 on the second tuner while I was recording.

Channel 10 is usually one of the channels I get the best signal strength with.

I was having problems with zero bytes the same day every week. I turned off all Windows Defenders tasks in Task Scheduler. They took the weekly scheduling controls out of the main program for some reason.

This week I had no zero bytes.

I turned it back on and will see what happens next scan.

I am wondering if the malware detection is locking something down at the precise moment a recording is starting?

This could be a red herring but it is odd that my issues are the same day each week when Windows Defender is doing it's maintenance tasks.

This is my first line of troubleshooting. Probably a dead end.
