Have been successfully using a USB-UIRT for many months. Then decided to upgrade to the latest gbpvr. That didn't go well so I deleted it and reinstalled the earlier version and put back the gbpvr.mdb and config.xml files I had saved.

Now my USB-UIRT doesn't work. These are the scenarios

1. When I select New device and the application asks to press --1-- key etc. The USB-UIRT doesn't respond at all. There is no light reflecting back from the device and the learning times out

2. I unplug the USB-UIRT and put it back. Now it responds to the remote control but gbpvr pops up a dialogue box message (words to this effect Timeout Waiting for UIR Thread. Click that dialogue box away and it seems that the key press has been learnt but it hasn't. This repeats for all numbers. I can save the result but in reality nothing has been saved at all.

I have even tried removing the USB-UIRT and reinstalling the drivers but that doesn't help either.

Anybody seen this message before and if so, what did you do?

As a last measure I have deleted the entire gbpvr installation (presumbly it clears out all registry entries) and reinstalled. Same problem - cannot get it to sense the USB-UIRT

Interestingly if I aim the remote at the USB-UIRT it responds okay (that is I can see if sensing the IR commands and sending them out). But as soon as I click learn new device and it pops up the message press -1- then it no longer responds to my remote

This is really bugging me since now I have no ability to change the channel automatically

Thanks

Thanks

I hadnt used or tested my USB-UIRT in many releases, so after reading this I thought I'd better check in case I'd inadvertantly broken something. It's still functioning fine for me, and I can learn a new remote etc. I havn't actually changed anything in this area of the application for a long long time.

Does it manage to learn another remote?

Have you got any other software that supports the USB-UIRT that you can use to test you setup is working?

Actually I am using the earlier version of gbpvr - the one that worked okay with the USB-UIRT viz. v0.91.12

I have no other apps that use it but am now trying to install gbpvr on another machine and then the usb-uirt to see if the device is okay

Ouch - it needs the .net framework which isn't installed on my other test machine so yet another installation first

OK - installed gbpvr on a completely different machine and also installed the USB-UIRT. Same problem occurred so I suspect thte usb-uirt has died Sad

Alas it's 3.5 month's old so out of warranty. That could mean another $70 to get another one!

Aaak! It was operator error. I emailed the USB-UIRT developer and he informed me (ever so politely) that the USB-UIRT device uses a different sensor when learning than when beaming. So my device was taped to a cabinet facing the cable box and I was beaming my control at the back of it (and thinking since it was flashing, it was learning). No! I had to beam my control at the front sensor and then it all worked fine
