I think I have covered all the bases in the setup, I got the EPG working and set up the channel numbers in the Configuration.
(Source channel under Edit recording source)
WinTV2000 works fine, I used the channel numbers from the Channel Suite. These channel numbers also seem to match the channel numbers on my TV.

However, all the channels just show static (although different kinds of static when I change channel). What have I done wrong in the setup?

I live in Norway, using a PVR350.

WinTV uses some private mechanism for setting a specific frequency, but I dont know the details. GB-PVR has to use the Microsoft channel changing API, which unfortunately do allow you to specify a frequency. Instead it uses predefined tables of frequencies based on you country and tuning type. For details see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library....ing.asp

For most users, in most countries, the defaults are fine - but there is a mechanism for entering frequencies into the registry if your broadcaster is transmitting on non-standard channels. Details on this are in the link above.

Your broadcaster may transmit on non standard channels frequencies. Use the forums search feature. A good keyword might be 'freqcopy' which is utiltity which can copy the WinTV2000 channel tunings into the microsoft channel overrides

I tried the freqcopy program, but still no luck.
I tried with country code 0 (as in the documentation) and country code 47 (Norway) but no change.
Since WinTV2000 matches my TV in the channel numbers I thought there was only one way to do it, but I guess there is also a Microsoft way...  [Image: smile.gif]
I will try to dig deeper in the registry manually, thank you for the link¨.

Try SAGE's sage recorder program ( you can get a a 15 day demo here  http://www.freytechnologies.com/sagerecorder.html) - it has an auto scan feature that will allow you to scan all the channels for your country then use the codes it finds in GBPVR

ie for me in Australia, i set our country code ( 61 )
then get the following
WIN TV CH           Sagerecorder ( GBPVR ) CH
Ch 2                          16
Ch 7                          67
Ch 9                          76

etc..

just keep a note of these frequencies handy in a text doc for when there are upgrades to GBPVR

The whole channel/frequency/preset thing can be quite confusing. At least it took me a while to figure out.

When using freqcopy it uses the WinTV preset numbers and puts these in registry as the channel numbers.
Also there is a registry listing for the channels in tuner and cable mode.

Example: BBC1 has frequency 123.456 with your cable company but is stored in Wintv under 8. You run freqcopy.
In GBPVR you now have to change the channel number for BBC to 8.
Doing so will make GBPVR use the correct frequency.

Great! The tip with using SageTV recorder for scanning worked!
All the channel numbers were in the region 51-198, obviously different presets than those in WinTV2000 or on my TV.

Thank you!

I'm still a little confused.

Anyone have the frequencies I need for the Sandy Heath transmitter (UK)?  What numbers do I enter into the table on the last tab of the GBPVR config tool?

Thanks

Tim
