Unable to reliably get HD chanels

I have Comcast Digital Pekin Illinois (61554) and use a CableCard. I tested live TV with several HD channels and it appeared to be working. But it's having troubles recording. So I tested a channel it was failing to record at all. Live TV won't display. In the case of another channel, it only recorded about 15 minutes of a 2 hours show.

What's going on? Should I contact Comcast?

Recreate the problem and then attach the logs to a post that tells us the time of the problem and the name of the show so that we know where to look in the logs. There is a button at NextPVR Settings --> About that will zip the logs for you.

How about 2:30am my time (Central US standard time). It was the DIYHD channel and a show called Rehab Addict.

Perhaps Comcast has started switching some channels to h.264 from MPEG-2 in your area. They did that here quite some time ago. I had to go into Settings -> Devices and change the setting for each channel, on each tuner. Right click on the channel you want to change and select Edit Channel, then change Service Type to H.264HD. To make it even more fun, Comcast would change just a few channels every week, rather than all at once. Drove me crazy. Smile

Sadly I have no clue why it stops recording ... I expect that someone will be along soon who can explain everything.

Do you get a file created on disk when you try to record? or is it an empty zero byte file?

Well, in that case, I ended up with a 0 byte file. But there have been other times in which I got a truncated show.
