Hey Sub.. what computer config did you have way back in 2016 when you played 16 channels at once with the quad card at 60% CPU? cpu, gpu, ram etc.. I was thinking of getting the quad card. Many thanks.

I've had this computer for quite a few years now. It an i7-3770k CPU, just using the on-board Intel HD 4400 graphics. 8GB of ram.

got my card installed and working... however I have various weird things going on.

got my antenna up in my attic
hooked up tv and got 71 channels

hooked up tuner to antenna
did a scan and got 58 channels on 2 tuners, 64 on another and 71 on last...
I keep scanning and wasn't changing.

I uninstalled everything, retried things... and now only getting 58 channels on all 4...

is there a best way to do this?

You'd typically scan one tuner, then when you try to setup the others, it'll give you the option to copy the scan results from the others - accept that offer. This way you end up with a single channel available from multiple tuners.

Regarding a slightly varying number of channels - you might find a couple of frequencies are marginal frequencies, and some times the scan finds them, some times they don't.

I think over the years we have come to the conclusion that TV's are more sensitive than TV tuners sat in an electrically noisy PC.

The reason you have that impression is because TVs use AGC (Automatic Gain Control) to boost the selected channel's signal. Tuner cards don't have this AGC feature which makes quality reception more of a challenge. For a quad tuner card, there would have to one AGC circuit for each tuner which would jack up the cost of the hardware.

but I'm not sure how I can use it to connect to the rooms. I get that this in my pc in the basement will give me dvr functionality. but how do I get stream ota to the house? Roku, etc? I just don't see how this will be streamlined and easy for my wife...

just thinking out loud.. thx..

ive been sick as heck so I haven't got back to the tuner yet...

You can have NextPVR installed on your server in the basement. Around the house you can use Kodi/Emby/NextPVR on machines/devices for clients.
