Upgrade to 4_0_5_171208 & Legacy TS Readers Refused to hook up

Hi,
I upgraded to 4_0_5_171208 on Windows 10 and have a problem with the new TS readers. I've switched back to using the legacy for now.

I can watch from the HD Homerun using either default or legacy.

Tuning live TV using Hauppauge HD-PVR2 throws a MPEG 2 refused to hookup error on the black screen and then shows the NPVR Menu. Station sound continues.

I've tried choosing MPEG2 video decoder Main Concept (works in Legacy), ffdshow, lav, Microsoft, Arcsoft, ATI & PDC and get the same error.

2018-02-20 22:14:35.740 [DEBUG][1] TV Listings: Got event NO_VIDEO_RENDERER Your selected MPEG2 video decoder refused to hook up. Please try another decoder.

hmmm, HDPVR2 only puts out h264 video, not mpeg2...

Yeah, good point. I wonder why it's thinking it's MPEG2.

If you play back an HDPVR2 recording, with the new TS reader, does it play?

To complicate this thread a bit the LiveTV example the OP refers to is from his HDHR not HDPVR. I don't see any attempts to play with LAV for mpeg2 however there are several attempts with ffdshow which needs to be configured to support mpeg2.

Got caught up in a bunch of things, finally back.
Martin, I'm not sure I understand. The HDHR seems ok. Whenever I tune from the HDPVR (Hauppauge) I get sound and the error message. I might have accidentally picked the wrong channel for that log??

I tried to record from a local cable-tv only news channel, so definitely not the HDHomerun this time.
When recording, I got the error. If I play back, I get the error. It plays in VLC.

If I have to configure ffdshow, is there a link on how to do that, or just google it?

That file plays fine with NextPVR and both LAV and Micorsoft DVD audio and video decoders. Personally I never found ffdshow worked well with AAC audio and the video decoder isn't as reliable as LAV and MS for h264

Thanks Martin. Turns out I kept changing the MPEG2 decoder not the H264 decoder. As soon as I changed the H264 to use Microsoft, all was good. I suppose I kept reading the error as a problem with MPEG2 and changed that setting.
