Does anyone know how to get the NTSC tuner of the AVerMedia AVerTV Volar Hybrid Q - H837 to show up in NPVR?

You have to be clearer now that there are two versions of NextPVR.

Windows V5 doesn't support analog. It is working really well for me in linux though, if you have a linux supported tuner

V4 search out how to install to install SoftPVR on the forum

Thanks Martin, the SoftPVR only works with Hauppauge products and they don't have any FM tuner units anymore. For some reason they have quit making them.
You are right, I forgot to say this is for V4. Thanks again.

SoftPVR works with other devices too. IPTV with Internet radio streams will be far superior to the low fi quality from tuner cards anyway.

I think then US gov't rules pushed Hauppauge to stop making NTSC devices to support the digital transition.

Martin, I found out the Media Portal supports analog cards (meaning FM) natively. I am trying it out now and seems to do what NPVR does.

You might be back after some frustration, and if you do let me know the stations you want to listen to and I will see if I can find some URL's for IPTV.

Martin, I was just wondering how they can do it and NPVR can't. You are right their system has a very steep learning curve but they seemlessly add analog to the mix. What is the difference that I am missing here.

By the way - I am still a big fan of NPVR.

NextPVR could technically do it, but the number of users is very low, and as you pointed out Hauppauge hasn't marketed FM devices for a while.  For a few users to get crappy low-fi FM doesn't seem to be worth sub's time, even in v4 support it was dependent on hacking SoftPVR components

I don't know why you don't like the internet radio solution assuming a stream is available, you shouldn't care.

NextPVR could technically do it, but the number of users is very low, and as you pointed out Hauppauge hasn't marketed FM devices for a year.  For a few users to get crappy low-fi FM doesn't seem to be worth sub's time, even in v4 support it was dependent on hacking SoftPVR components
Yeah, that is very much the case. There is very very few people doing analog these days, and even less wanting to do FM. It's hard to justify much time on it these days when I've got so much other stuff keeping me busy. That was even the case several years back when I added analog support in NextPVR, so I just went for the easy option, which wasn't going to be too time consuming. I reused some Hauppauge components from WinTV because the vast majority of analog users had Hauppauge devices, so it was readily available.

That said, quite a few people have used non-Hauppauge analog devices in NextPVR. It's not that hard to get a device running. There is several posts on the forum with information about how to download/extract/install the softpvr components from WinTV.

As Martin says, using an only stream for radio is probably a better idea these days. It's pretty easy to setup.
