channel merging/un-merging

In v5, how would I go about merging a single channel (not auto merging all channels)?  In v4, I was able select 2 or more channels (from multiple sources) and merge them using a specific name and epg source.  In v5, all I see is auto merge.   Also, How would I go about and un-merge a merged channel?

In my area it seems that channels are appearing & disappearing on a regular basis (weekly) with all the channel repacking going on.  This presents quite a book keeping effort since I have cable (HDHomerun Prime) and two different OTA tuners attached to two different antenna systems.  Sometimes a channel will appear on the Prime and both OTA tuners devices, where I may only want to merge a Channel on the Prime with only one of the tuners (the one with the stronger signal).

Unfortunately there is no unmerge in NextPVR v5 UI at this stage.

You can however go into a device, on the Settings->devices page, and delete all or some of the channels, then rescan. The end result is the same - the existing channels are still there, with the other devices, and the new channels from the scan are extra channels, not merged.

Sub, I tried what you suggested. The results were not as I would have hoped.

Previously to my attempt to do a channel rescan, I went through the list of unfriendly channels names that SD provides (like WPPX-DVT4) and renamed them with a name more indicative of the channel programming (like - AntennaTV). I did this for each OTA channels (and also cable channels). After the re-scan, I now have a duplicate channel entry for every channel that was renamed (which are most of my channels). So now, as an example, I have a channel list entry for WPPX-DVT4 and for AntennaTV . It has created a mess in my channel listings. The rescan adds the missing channel, but also re-adds channels that are already there with the original name provided by SD.

I used to perform the same operation in v4 without duplicates being generated, if I remember correctly. So now, in v5, if I change the name of the channel, then perform a subsequent scan, it seems I have to deal with a book keeping nightmare. I am doing something wrong?

Looking at this further, I see that when I preform a 2nd scan, all channels are duplicated in the channel list, even those which had not been renamed or re-mapped - the channels per device also roughly doubles in number.

When you upgraded to v5 did you copy your database or start from scratch?

Yes, that that operation was not quite the same operation as an unmerge. Any new channels found in a scan will have the names they're broadcast with, rather than names of the now-unrelated channels on other devices that you've renamed.

I've added merge and unmerge options to the Advanced Tools button for the next release. These work on the channels you have selected in the list.
