Hi folks, pretty new to all of this so apologies in advance if I am missing something obvious (it wouldn't be the first time).
My question is, how do I use HDHomeRun Duo's local hard drive for recording live tv ota and then access via a NextPVR client? I was planning to use Kodi+NextPVR running on a Firestick TV.
Most of the documentation I am looking at for both HDHomeRun and NextPVR don't seem to match up to the software settings screenshots anymore of the how-to guides. More expressly, the documentation I can find assumes your tuner and dvr storage are separate devices. That aside, everything seems to be pushing me to use my Windows 10 machine as the recording storage location rather than the HDHomeRun hardware and its empty 1 TB harddrive.
All of this adds up to I can't connect my Firestick TV + Kodi + NextPVR directly to the locally networked HDHomeRun device (leaving my Windows PC uninvolved) which was my (perhaps erroneous) expectation. If I configure Kodi+NextPVR to point the HDHomeRun ip address (and any of the default ports) it won't connect. I can connect to the HDHomeRun web config interface from my PC on port 80, but can't on port 8866 or 7799 which I presume is necessary for the NextPVR client.
Anyway, I am bit stuck and will be sad if ultimately I have to use my PC for storage if I am to record shows to watch with NextPVR.
I understand a lot of this question has external dependencies not directly associated with NextPVR but I am hoping this is still the right place for this question. Thank you for your thoughts in advance.

- HDHomeRun Setup's DVR tab has "use this PC for recordings" which I've left unchecked. It also has a NAS option which when selected doesn't find the HDHomeRun Duo on the network (the HDHR does show via Windows network but is treated as a media device). I've also left this setting unchecked.
- The NextPVR client has media folders, both of which point locally to my windows 10 pc at default locations.
