In response to multiple issues with NPVR, I uninstalled and the installed ver 5.09 (201026).  Solved the decoders (easier than last time - thank you!), but again have NAS issue.
It's been 3 years since I last posted; I've re-read them all and the following 3 are relevant to this topic:  2016-11-03. 2016-11-06 and 2017-01-19.  With the exception of editing config.xml, the solutions from '16/'17 aren't applicable.  I did not (yet) attempt to edit config.xml because the page to enter to path to my NAS for storing recordings allowed my doing so (again, easier than last time - thanks).  I entered:  \\wdmycloudex4100\NextPVR_TV-Recordings
BUT, when I try to record, nothing is saved and no recordings are found by NPVR (or in a directory search).
My most recent attempt was today (11-30-2020) at 1:18 PM on channel 38.5 WSBK.5
I have attached (via drag and drop) the log file.  (not clear if it's actually attached)
Thank you for any and all support.

PS: Have been using Kodi+Plex for most of the past 2 years, but got frustrated with Kodi instability and, more recently, the limited functionality of the Plex player.  I want to resume using NPVR and have some catching up to do.  Any recommendations about how to take full advantage of it's functionality will also be most appreciated.  Thank you for your great product.  I have and will also resumed contributions.

The usual complication with network drives is that NextPVR is running as the localsystem account, and it probably doesn't have the permission to access your share. The easiest fix is probably to go into the Services control panel, and view the properties of the NextPVR Service, and set it to run under your user account (instead of localsystem). This way it should have access to your shares.

(depending on the NAS, another option these days is to run NextPVR directly on the NAS using docker)

Sub - thank you for your rapid and very helpful reply. As I reviewed the threads from 2016/17, I found your posts that, in effect, recordings are under a different account. What I couldn't remember is what to do about this. Your advice to edit the NPVR Service was all it took. I changed it from "localsystem" to my username/account and recordings are now working like a charm. THANK YOU.

In my post yesterday, I mentioned two reasons why I was returning to NPVR as our primary "cord cutter" program / resource: "Kodi instability and, more recently, the limited functionality of the Plex player." Your rapid and helpful reply highlights my third reason: I have found it unacceptably difficult to obtain responses of any kind, much less substantive responses that resolve problems, to posts by PLEX staff and administrator(s), despite the fact that Plex Pass is a paid service. In reviewing my posts to NPVR, I am struck by how many, more knowledgeable and experienced, NPVR users also weigh in with proposed solutions. This doesn't happen much in PLEX where almost all user posts are pleas to solve the same or similar problem. My hypothesis is that users paying for a service are less willing to contribute solutions, and users of a service based upon voluntary contributions are ready and willing to do their part to make it all work. I hope the contributions are widespread enough to make it work well; I will do my part.
Thank you,

Great - I'm glad that was an easy fix for you. Good to hear you're also liking the good community support we've got going on here. Smile
