Yep, I'd need logs before I could tell you anything on this.

I think that this would happen when knewc was timing out and dying, but leaving Kodi playing the video. And, as you said, when pressing the Kodi stop, it would stop the video (and audio) playback, but since knewc had died, the playback position wasn't being saved to Nextpvr. I'm wondering if in your situation, Kodi is still playing the video, but it is obscured by other screens so you're only hearing the audio.

That's an interesting observation.  I witnessed this for the first time last night, but knewc crashed so Kodi was in the foreground with the video/audio ghosted behind.  Previously (at least when I've seen it) knewc was still running and the screen showed the Video Library from where we had started the playback.  I hadn't thought that the video playback may still be going in the background.

Martin

I had included logs on the OP, but it makes sense more is better.  I'll grab logs next time it happens.  Or better yet I'll try to reproduce it with two clients when I get home tonight.

Looking at the logs you still had a bad tuner setup at the time which was another thread and would no doubt have cause issues.

But they do show the loop on stop issue which I've consider part of the problem that I am hoping sub can look into. Kodi might not have been told to stop, but you didn't supply debug logs so I can't tell what the interaction was and the server side log is very weak.

Hey, Martin. This comment about the logs not being in debug mode gave me a thought. I have my Kodi always generating debug logs because I never know when something "strange" is going to happen and I'll need good logs. Smile Do you think that might have anything to do with exacerbating the timeout problems or the multiple recording reloads after stopping?

I haven't seen anything in logs you have sent that show much traffic at all at a stop. There is normally a lot of spam with messages every second but I'd be more concerned at the millisecond level. Probably the logs are not needed until the server is cleaner.

I think I only have debug enabled (in advancedsettings.xml) on the client running on the server. I can enable it one of the other clients when I run the two-client if that will help.

Logs are the only way I can tell what knewc is actually doing but lets wait and see what sub finds out about the main things I have found out so far.

Based on Brett's thread https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...n=lastpost and your excellent observation eariler I can now see the issue in the logs.

One machine issued a stop but that stop was sent to your linux client too

Code:
2020-11-04 20:47:09.989    [DEBUG][108]    Got request [::ffff:10.99.99.87]: /control
2020-11-04 20:47:09.989    [DEBUG][108]    About to store playback position information
...
2020-11-04 20:47:09.995    [DEBUG][108]    Setting activity: stop
....
2020-11-04 20:47:25.576    [DEBUG][73]    Got request [::ffff:127.0.0.1]: /activity
2020-11-04 20:47:25.576    [DEBUG][73]    ClientGetActivity() returning:
{
  "action": "stop"

}

While technically a bug in knewc, I could have a state for server requested stops and exits but it is much better if sub fixes the root cause.

I agree. I'm also wondering if the server getting mixed up about which client is which may also have something to do with the multiple Recording Reloads after a stop, too.
