Just realised i had not been testing with the latest version which is much better than what i had tried.

When it comes to playback is there a difference between playing from the webclient section and the native guide section of xnewa or do both use the same settings.

To get time shift working should selecting the timeshift playback option and using path substitution pointing to recording share be it?

To use the vlc settings is it vlc on the nextpvr host that is used?

When playing back after a few seconds it buffers for a few seconds, is this normal or is there something i can do to stop it. Reason i ask is the pvr addon doesnt and its gig cable connected.

The pvr addon doesnt always seem to stop correctly and i run out of tuners which xnewa doesnt do.

After lots of messing about with native/timeshift etc I have settled on autolaunch web client with a shortcut on my main kodi menu using the PVR setting which seems to work okay so far.
Comskip works nicely in this mode too.

Just curious as to how other people use it? I was opting for native but seemed to get some framerate issues/judder.

More experimenting, playing with the timeshift mode, played back okay after changing the buffer setting however when I tried to rewind/skip/fastforward it went back to the very beginning every time and I could not get it to go forward unless in real time - does this happen to others?

When watching in this mode how to do I press record while watching without stopping playback and going into the guide?

Sorry been away for a while and crazy roaming and wifi prices I stayed offline for a week but it actually make for a nice vacation.

You may be the only one in the world using pvr mode for live tv. To navigate in web client you would need to disable the Playback OSD because NextPVR only supports pvr timeshifting with Kodi controling it. Related to this recording options aren't available. The OSD currently only works with Native mode. I might be able to code around this to give the OSD back in Recordings.

For recordings most people in their logs use shares like you do for comskip support.

Yes i have disabled kodis native pvr now and within xnewa settings have selected timeshift.

The problem i seemed to have with this is that trying to ff or rw or skip forward and back resulted in playback starting from when i first changed channel an hour earlier and i couldnt then go further forward only in real time. I'll try it again later.

Did I misunderstand that you are using PVR settings from an earlier post? If you use this with the native PVR disabled x-newa falls back to Native streaming and seeking is not possible.

To navigate in this mode you need to go into Kodi mode with the back key to disable the NextPVR OSD since sub won't accept navigation in live tv.

NextPVR also won't record the buffer with ctrl-k just from the current location forward.

Finally to be clear in time shifting mode you can only watch and navigate one show and it won't automatically go record the next show. it is clearly a hack not suitable for many users.

Thanks Martin, I have decided then that "native" playback is probably the best option for now on the bedroom device.

I do like the kodi inbuilt pvr functionality, it just seems too unstable at the moment in particular not freeing up the tuner when it has an issue resulting in no tuners left and a load of buffer files.

I wish I could learn to live with the Kodi pvr interface I personally don't like it visually or technically.
