I have a Shield Android TV running the latest version of Kodi and X-Newa. Recordings play back perfectly but whenever I try to watch Live TV I get stutter every few seconds. This is OTA ATSC from an HDHomerun. Any ideas what might be causing this? I do have path substitution set up for both recordings and live tv but as I recall, path substitution is not used for live tv.

Do you remember when I told you how to disable the web client live tv OSD over live tv? It could be that. Maybe try native x-newa live tv to compare. If that doesn't do what, does typing the O (letter) key show some buffering or high CPU issues, maybe even errors.

Yes, I was specifically testing the native x-newa live tv because of this. I will try to get some data with the 'o' menu. Thanks.

So, I watched some Live TV with the 'o' display up and other than some "drops" no problems were really obvious to me. All 4 CPUs stayed under 30%. Is there something other than the obvious "buffering" message that would tell me if buffering is a problem? Something else I should look for?

Does it still stutter after pausing for a few seconds? If so maybe check advancedsettings.xml to make sure http caching is enabled.

Pausing does seem to improve things. I don't have anything pertaining to http caching in my advancedsettings so I think this means it is enabled be default. Does this suggest that maybe increasing the cachemembuffersize might help?

I'd be inclined to start with <readbufferfactor>2.0</readbufferfactor> or higher to see if it can pull faster and then increase the cache size. I was hoping that for the next release sub would have given some extra api calls to help playing from a share but it looks like he is focusing a bit more on Jarvis and Emby clients for the next release.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, neither of these settings seem to have any effect on this issue for me. When I start playback of a live stream, it stutters a lot and sometimes doesn't even have any audio at all. If I pause it for several seconds and resume playback it seems mostly good but there are eventually some random stutters again.

Ok, if you start live tv on another client can you play the file from a share okay? If so, does the O data look any different?
